Today is the NAACP Awards and we're getting ready to attend it, even Peyton. She's so excited to be attending her first award show. The camera crew came by earlier but they left a couple of minutes ago. It was pretty hectic. Peyton had a mini tantrum again, not that she was on camera, she just didn't want them here. I agree.
Our attire is a royal blue and it's velvet. Of course we would be matching. I did Peyton's hair in a ballerina bun but made sure not to do it too tight. My hair was already done in a side part with the curls pinned up and so was my make up. All I had to do was take the pins out and get dressed.
"Tell Marie to put on your dress, please."
"Okayyy!" She said as she ran out of the room. I headed into the closet where my dress was waiting for me. On cue, Marie came upstairs and helped me to put on my dress. I looked in the mirror as she zipped it up in the back.
I look so good in this dress. I can't wait to look even better in my wedding dress. We get married in 17 days and I'm so excited! I just sent out the invitations the other day which was a bit late but everyone already knows our wedding date, time and location. The invitations were just to RSVP to hold their spot. I know everything is going to be just how we wanted and probably even more. Mindy is the best wedding planner.
Once my dress was on I slipped on my red bottom black heels. We all have red bottom shoes... we really are family goals. Once my shoes were on I carefully walked downstairs while Marie held the back of my dress. I laughed at Peyton standing still.
I guess she didn't want to mess up her dress.
"Oh baby you look so beautiful."
"Thank you mommy. You look beauty-boo too!"
"Thank you love." Marie took the pins out of my hair and touched up my makeup. Soon Kenny came down the stairs in his suit to match us. He looks so fine. "Damn." He chuckled and looked at me.
"I know I'm handsome."
"Yes you are." I leaned in to kiss him but Marie interrupted us.
"I just fixed your lipstick girl." I laughed and Kenny kissed my cheek instead.
"Turn around let me see baby." I smiled as I turned around. When my back was toward him, he whistled. I giggled and turned back around.
"Daddy I wanna spin too!"
"Okay baby spin." She spun in a circle causing her dress to flare. Kenny clapped for her and she blushed.
"Thank you daddy."
"You're very welcome princess." We took a few pictures before heading to the award show.

When we arrived, the paparazzi started flashing their cameras. Kenny had to tell them to ease down with the pictures because the lights were hurting Peyton's eyes. You would think that because a child is there, they would already know what to do.
September 10
Our wedding is in thirteen more days and we can't wait. We've been counting down the days! After the Essence Awards, things became busy with everything going on for our wedding but now things are easing down. Today is my listening party for the album. I'm doing it early since we'll be on our honeymoon after our wedding and until my birthday. Everyone is at our house to support me and I can't wait to see what they think of my new album. We're currently in the theatre room so I can play the videos on the big screen.
Peyton laid next to me in one of the recliner chairs. Although it is past her bedtime, we let her stay up because of the company and we knew that she wouldn't want to go to sleep.
"Alright I'm here! Party can start now." Janet said as she walked in causing us to laugh. I was really waiting for Janet though so I guess the party can start now.
"I just want say a quick thank you to those of you who have supported me throughout this album. This album has been in the works for a while and I'm just glad that it came together. Thank you." Everyone clapped.
"Yes girl!" Tamar exclaimed and I shook my head. I played the album in order and the first song is Beautiful Liar featuring Shakira. It was very fun working with Shakira, she's fun to be around. It only took us one day to film the video which is pretty good
"Yayyy mommy!" Peyton clapped louder than everyone else and I laughed.
"That was a ten!" Traci said and I smiled.
"Thank you."
"And was. Everything is going to be a ten."
"Indeed." I skipped Irreplaceable because everyone knows that song and video so the next song is Green Light.
"Green means go. Gooooo." Peyton sang and I laughed. I occasionally play this song for her so I guess it's one of her favorites. "I like this song mommy."
"You do?"
"Mmhmm, it's my favorite color too."
I nodded, "You are right baby." Two more songs played and the next one is Flaws and All. I was excited to see everyone's reaction, but most importantly Kenny's. It's a song where I show appreciation for Kenny loving me and accepting me with all my flaws, in and out. The videos are a compilation of my mother recording me acting stilly and stuff. Some of the videos are a bit old because I had that idea in mind but didn't know which song it would fit. Everything turned out perfect.
"I'm a peasant by some standards But in your eyes, I'm a queen You see potential in all my flaws And that's exactly what I mean..."
Kenny grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it. I smiled and looked at him. "I love you baby and all your flaws."

September 16
Toni laughed as her and Kenny ran down the stairs. He picked her up and spun her around. Her laughter filled his ears causing him to do the same.
"Did we really just do that?" Toni asked as her laughter died down. Kenny nodded and set her on the ground.
"Yes we did. I can't believe it."
"Me either but I'm glad that we did it." She pecked his lips.
