MITCHELL, FOR SOME REASON, HAD TO BE THE one who carried his mother all the way back to the Argo II. He didn't protest, he just thought since the others watched her try to choke him to death, that maybe someone like Frank should carry her instead.

Immediately on seeing the restrained goddess, Annabeth cried out: "oh my gods!" She rushed over and furrowed her eyebrows. "What the hell happened?" Her voice grew angry.

Leo tilted his head and gestured to Nike, who was hitting Mitchell on the back like a child. "We . . . kidnapped her—"

"No, I mean, what the hell happened to Mitchell? Your nose is wonky and you've got dried blood all over you." Annabeth grabbed his face and pulled him down to eye level.

Mitchell huffed and slung his mother off his shoulders and tossed her to the ground. He showed off the bruises on his neck, which showed obvious signs of attempted choking.

"Holy shit, dude." Jason stepped forward. "Did she—"

"My mother?" Mitchell scowled. "Yeah. Tried to kill me. But what can you expect?" He kicked Nike to push her out of the way. "I mean, she's hated me from the moment I was born." He brushed past everyone.

Piper ran her hands through her hair, "okay . . . can someone give us a recap, please? You kidnapped victory, congratulations. Is Mitchell okay?"

Percy thought back to before. How helpless he felt watching the boy he loved get choked and injured by his own mother. Percy remembered running forward, only to be pushed back by some invisible force. He thought about trying to bloodbend, but would Mitchell forgive him? He didn't want to risk it.

"I—I'm not sure . . . she hit him and . . ." Percy looked at Annabeth. "She mentioned that she knew who was going to die . . . with the prophecy?"

"To storm, fire or brawl... the world must sacrifice..." Annabeth repeated the lines she had tried so hard to figure out. Jason; to storm, Leo; fire, Mitchell; brawl. "Percy, this is important. How did Mitchell react to it."

"Ashamed."

"He knows who dies," Annabeth muttered. "And he can't do anything about it. Gods okay ..." She looked down to the tied up goddess and cringed. "You're the worst goddess to ever walk this earth. Your son is amazing, and yet you still—"

Nike thrashed around and screamed into her gag, obviously protesting about how good Mitchell was.

"Frank, Jason—whoever—take her and put her wherever. I don't want her in my sight or I might cut her lymph nodes out." Annabeth turned on her heal and went down to the first aid room.
