PERCY TOOK MITCHELL BY THE WAIST AND boosted the both of them aboard while Jason had to get to the surface himself.

"Ugh," Mitchell spat out some salt water he had consumed. "Yuck." He grimaced and whined.

Percy laughed and kept his hand firmly on the other's waist. "You feeling okay? Did the poison drain you? Did it hurt you? Are you—"

"Perseus," Mitchell huffed, almost embarrassed at how protective he was being. "I'm fine. You're so annoying."

He grinned, "Yep."

Annabeth whistled, "I'm assuming whatever you guys found down there got rid of the storm?" She pursed her lips, giving Mitchell a cheeky look.

"Yeah," He gently removed Percy's fingers from his body, despite his heart telling him not to and walked over to Annabeth. "Jason promised her an action figure."

She furrowed her brow and scrunched her face in confusion. "What?"

"An action figure. You know, like the Spider-Man one I have in my room?" Mitchell tilted his head. "The one that my brother bought me?"

"I know what an action figure it," Annabeth laughed. "I was asking out of confusion. It's not everyday you come out of the water, or come out, and tell me that Jason promised someone an action figure."

"Oh," Mitchell ignored the gay joke she slipped in there. "Never mind then, I'll explain later."

"You're explaining now, mister." Annabeth grabbed Mitchell and pulled him below deck. He complained that she was holding him too tight until they were in her room. "Now, you and Percy—"

"I thought we were talking about the goddess I saw down in the water?" Mitchell frowned, almost like a pout. "And the action figure!"

Annabeth rolled her eyes. "I couldn't give a shit about that. Anything happening between you and Percy?" She bumped his shoulder.

Mitchell sighed and rested his head in her lap. He wanted to be able to say yes, to look Annabeth in the eye and tell her that he had finally grown the balls to confess, but he couldn't.

He still felt like a little boy, hiding in the corner of his cabin, head tucked into his knees as Dionysus and Chiron tried to talk to him. Loneliness and fear was a powerful emotion as it was one that could take a village to get rid of, or a camp to inflict.

"No," Mitchell rested his head in her lap and stared at the ceiling. "I doubt anything ever will happen. We've kissed twice, and both times I freaked out and said it was wrong."
