THE NEXT DAY, MITCHELL AND JADE left for the Jackson/Blofis residence. The ride there was nerve wracking and quiet. Jade would sometimes hum a song under her breath, or say something to Mitchell, but other than that, it was silent.

Once they stepped out of the car and made their way to the apartment, they stood in front of the door. Jade slipped her hand into Mitchell's, squeezing it reassuringly.

He let out a gentle sigh and knocked on the door. He was dressed in a dark blue shirt that was tight on his skin; making his muscles all the more visible. He had a pair of baggy jeans on, since Addison had bought him a bunch of new clothes since he had 'no sense of style'. His hair was tied back in a loose ponytail, and his eyes glimmered in the flickering light.

Jade was dressed in a light blue shirt and had a pair of black shorts on. Her hair had been braided by Mitchell, and her hand was intertwined with his.

The door swung open, and on the other side was a distraught looking Sally Jackson. Her hair was a mess; once a bun was now messy, strands of soft hair strewn all over her head as if she just woke up.

"Mitchell," her voice was hoarse and low, as if she had spent the last three days crying, which she probably had. "Please, come in." She moved aside for the two demigods, and they walked in slowly.

The room felt as though it was a funeral home. With what usually had an energetic, adhd teen running around, looking for his missing sock, was now quiet and depressing.

Paul was sitting down by the table, laptop in his lap. He looked up, his salt and pepper hair flopped lazily over his forehead. He stood slowly, as if his muscles ached when he departed from his seat. "Mitchell."

The boy almost flinched. His name was spoken as if it was both a blessing and a curse. Every breath he took filled the air with loose hope, and the sense of loneliness.

"Hi Sally, hi Paul." Mitchell squeezed Jade's hand gently and looked between the two parents.

Jade smiled as sweetly as she could for a scene so painful. "Hello," her voice was a quiet as a whisper, her eyes careful and observant. "Are you two Percy's parents?"

Sally knelt and examined Jade's neat hair. "Yes, sweetheart. I'm Sally Jackson, Percy's mum. That's Paul Blofis, his stepdad."

"Blowfish?"
