Anu walked downstairs, her hair still slightly damp from her shower. Her parents were seated at the breakfast table, engaged in a lively conversation. She greeted them with a bright smile.
"There is my princess! What are your plans today?" her father asked, looking up from his newspaper.
Before Anu could respond, her mother interjected, "What do you mean by 'what are her plans today?' You know very well that today, Avinash, my daughter's fiancé, is getting promoted to CEO. Of course, she is going to meet him and stay with him."
"Oh yes, how could I forget?" her father laughed, making Anu blush.
"Dad, stop it!" Anu said, her cheeks turning as red as a tomato.
"Tell him sorry from my side, sweetheart. I have an important meeting. Otherwise, I would have definitely come along with you," her father said.
Anu nodded, finished her breakfast quickly, and ran to her room to get ready.
Anu Mehta, 22 years old, had recently completed her MBA in finance and was currently searching for a suitable workplace to gain experience.
Both her parents were involved in business, each owning their own company. It was expected that Anu would work outside her parents' companies to gain experience before taking over the family business.
Her love life had been dry until the love of her life, Avinash, entered. Now her fiancé, Avinash is 26 years old, the most eligible bachelor and a master in business, a character straight out of a fictional book.
Every human has flaws, and Avinash was no exception. Sometimes the most perfect humans are the imperfect ones.
FLASHBACK
Anu entered the cafe with a bored expression. She was only here because of her parents, who wanted her to meet the man they had chosen for her.
She had no intention of saying yes to the proposal, men and her had never really gotten along.
She walked into the cafe and saw it was empty, except for a man sitting at a table with his back to her. She scoffed.
How many books had she read where someone booked an entire restaurant for a conversation?
It seemed romantic in books but impractical in real life. Rolling her eyes, she walked towards the man, already determined to reject him.
But then she froze.
Something inside her screamed, though she couldn't decipher what.
Her heart rate was definitely not normal. Did she have a heart problem? No, she was perfectly healthy. Yet seeing him made her feel otherwise.
Before she could speak, he sensed her presence and said, "Didn't expect you to be a latecomer." He turned towards her, holding a bouquet of flowers, making her jaw drop.
Not only had he rented an entire cafe, but his appearance was also straight out of a book.
Tight muscles peeking out from his unbuttoned suit, dark brown eyes with a clean beard and styled hair, and a stern look with a cold aura, just like a fictional hero.
Somewhere inside her told her that she knew him, but she couldn't figure out how or where.
"My goodness," she whispered, brought back to reality when he practically forced her to take the flowers.
Anu was offended by his behavior. Though him being handsome, she couldn't ignore how rudely he had behaved. "Why are you being so rude?" she asked.
"Because you were late," he replied coldly.
