Seonghwa's POV
I didn't know what came over me at the moment that I realised that the prince had been the man I had been spending my time with. At first, I didn't believe it, it took a few blinks and rubs for me to agree that my eyesight didn't deceive me.
Once it had settled in , I realised that I was heading somewhere, I was in the park beside the festival . Looking around, I noticed that I was closer to the hill, leading to a path that continued on. I followed the path, mind racing, but no thought seems to focus.
Hongjoong is the prince. The prince is Hoonjoong.
The prince I was supposed to meet at the ball, the same one who is related to the curse. The one I gained feelin-
I stopped the thought before I could, ending it abruptly and to make sure that it would resurface I decided to run. And I ran across the path, but soon stopped due to my unathleticism , taking deep ragged breaths along with my beating hard that seemed to want to come out of my chest. But I had the result I wanted , I was too fatigued to think and just wanted to rest my beating heart .
Not caring for the dirt, I sat on the path, took out the few snacks that I had stuffed in my pockets earlier and just ate. A drop fell into the packet of pocky that I was going through, and my head reached up to my face.
I was bowling in seconds, wiping away tear after tear , still munching on crisps to muffle the sounds of my voice not to alert anyone who was passing by.
After all the tears had left me, all that was left was anger. I was furious, not at anyone but myself.
How could I have let him into my heart like that ?
I didn't know who to be mad at: fate , the curse, or Hongjoong. Fate must have been laying tricks or had joined hands with the curse. Hoverer, Hongjoong ... Hongjoong, who had been part of my journey of finding the house, experiencing a new solid friendship and realising that I had someone to rely on, who had helped and been my emotional support. A personal pain in my ass, but all for the sake of keeping a light atmosphere between the two of us.
His easy going smile, the small jokes and the pranks. He had suddenly come into my life and changed my perspective. Was I someone to be cared for ? Cherished ? Loved?
I fought back the tears that were planning to spill, knowing that the tears will be too dry to even come out . I have no tears left to cry.
Fate seemed to not like me much. I could have been paired with anyone, but they just had to pair me with someone who was off limits, the main vessel of the curse, and the final step before another lifetime of pain.
For what seemed like 10 minutes, I sat on the ground of the park, wallowing myself with pity, asking questions that clearly couldn't be answered. I was not prepared to see anyone again today. In fact, I was hoping to avoid going home, but since I didn't want Mingi and Yunho to worry, the look of the worried face of Yunho and Mingo 8 etched in my brain, I decided to take a break.
Getting up slowly, wobbling at every step I took since my legs felt numb from the position, I started walking along the path , wishing that it would take me away from someone far away.
Walked and walked, and got tired. My knees started to hurt, after all I had been on my feet all day and of course my feet , in fact blisters had started forming at the back of my heel.
However, there was no sign of a bus in the area I was, by my knowledge, far away from the bus stops that I had found near the festival. I was heading home, walking along the streets to get there.
I kept walking, because the area I was in was full of houses and no shops at all. Once I reached a main street, with the bright signs at each lane of the main road, I went into one of the shops called Chiken-Fil-A. There was a man there. He was buff, that was the first thing I noticed, since his t-shirt seemed to wrap around his biceps, instead of sitting loose, and they were precisely the same width as his face. He was working behind the counter, looking through the computer, the light of the screen reflecting into his eyes, a slight scowl on his face.
Must have been a slow sale.
A chime from the door alerted him of my presence, in which he said his welcome greeting that must shops had. A huge smile on his face and he waited for me to order. I waved my hand as if to say no , in which miraculously he understood but still maintained his smile , and with courage I explained that I needed to find a train back to my house.
His face lit up, gladly explaining where the train station was , but I guess he saw how confused I was because he called over a colleague of his who introduced himself as Felix, and from the back he responded to the buff guy by calling him "Changbin Hyung!" as he came to the counter .
The buff guy, Changbin, told him to get his phone out, to which the freckled guy, Felix, acted as if he didn't, putting his hands behind his back and batting his eyelashes. His head tilted to the side.
Surprisingly, Changbin matched his energy and sarcastically said that the phone was in his pocket behind him as it usually was there even though he wasn't allowed to have it with him. Felix pouted before getting the phone out. Changbin instructed him to get on maps to get the train station's location. He showed it to me over the counter and I got the main points of the street names and other landmarks and thanked him , getting a good understanding of the directions.
Thanking them again, I want to make my way to the train station.
The station was quiet, just a few people who were there, mostly drunk business people after a night of drinking with their colleagues. It was also late, which explained the quietness, the clock above the end of the train reading 2am.
I sighed and turned to start mindlessly looking out of the window, numb from the all the crying.
