Narrator's POV

Darkness swallowed him back, and he found himself, on the floor of the library. He got up using the shelves as support.

His shoes hit something metallic.

Looking confused, he tried to see where it was by tapping his foot around himself. Once he heard the metal, he bent over to grab the object.

The object's shape seemed to resemble the same treasure chest he found at the tree house.

He wished that the torch would come to light, but it had automatically closed once he entered the library.

However, he didn't dwell on it for long, since he didn't want to stay in the library and get caught by security. So, as soon as he felt stable on his glass heels, nor really made of glass just transparent material, he made his way back to the bathroom.

At the moment that he stepped out of the library, the torch lit up, allowing to follow his way back to the bathroom.

As soon as he reached he went in, making sure to see if there was a way to hide what he had just found, he tapped on the dress to see if there was an opening.

His hands slipped in a pocket , surprised that it even had any, swiftly adding the item in. It didn't even look out of place.

He looked at himself in the mirror before heading back to the ball.

There was buzz going around , excitement written on the faces of many guests. He quickly walked around people, apologising if he bumped into people.

It wasn't hard to find Yunho and Mingi due to their height, but they had also spotted him waving him over to where they were standing, hands on glasses holding a colourful pink liquid.

He made his way over, asking what made everyone so energetic. Before they could answer , a person cleared the through into the microphone. He greeted the audience, introducing himself as the MC for the evening. Everyone applauded him, as per custom, before he continued.

"We will now start with the main event, I would like everyone to put on their mask as the invitation requested. It is a requirement to keep a sense of fairness in between people, so that the prince can choose someone based on other factors instead of beauty."

Seonghwa panicked since he didn't have a mask, and Yunho notice it straight away, his hand reaching to tap Seonghwa on the shoulder. Our protagonist looked at his friend, his eyes landing on what he was holding: a mask. Specifically, the one his mother gave him.

Yunho explained that he was searching for an important document and then got carried away, ending in front of his room. He then searched his room to find any clues as to why his hyung was feeling unhappy. He came across then mask and kept it with him since he knew that his hyung had not received an invitation to the ball and probably didn't know he will need one.

Seonghwa was speechless for a moment, recounting all of his actions to deserve such a good friends like Yunho and Mingi. Seonghwa said that he wasn't off the hook, but was grateful. A pout and a small smile earned a quick forgiveness from Seonghwa, to which he then focused on putting the mask.

The MC announced that each person will have a waiter beside them to make sure that each and every one will be ready for the next step. Someone greeted him with a dep bow. The man was handsome , his eyes similar to his cat features, but he gave the sense of comfort with his eyes smile. He, like the rest of the waiters, was very fit, his sleeveless vest gives away his muscles and tan skin.

He introduced himself as San , giving a comment that he couldn't wait to become a friend in the future. Seonghwa was confused by the comment, but his attention was back to the MC, who started talking again.

He announced for the prince to make an appearance, and as they waited for him, they clapped their hands. The prince came down the stairs already with the mask . His suit, having a long trail at the back , not too long to touch the floor, but enough to alter its form in waves. Simply said, it looked stunning.

The MC waited for the prince to joining in the middle of the long staircase. He mentioned that whoever got the same number that the prince is holding, they will get to dancing with him first. He then announced to grab the paper.

Everyone mutter among themselves before paper fell from the sky and every person quickly tried to grab one. Seonghwa did. Almost trip on someone else and he tried to get paper.

Once everybody got their number, the announcer asked for the waiters to got stand by and check that no one had opened their note yet. Once done, the microphone went up to the prince , in which he revealed his own number.

"8" , Hongjoong said.

Ruffling with the paper, Seonghwa stared at his own number while San, raised his hand announcing that Seonghwa, the silver dressed man, was the person. He then went on to whisper good luck to Seonghwa before exiting, in fact every waiter went away. The crowd parted like the sea for Moses, and he walked nervously to where the staircase was, Hoonjoong came down as well from where was standing, meeting each other halfway.

The MC went to say a few greeting before healing off and the music came.

Seonghwa did a half bow, his heart thumping already after days of not seeing Hongjoong after that nightmare of a day, noticing that he looked wonderful in this suit . He was nervous, palms sweating, and his body got closer to the prince's one, he followed the steps as much as he could , clumsy of course as his pretend dances were nothing compared to the real thing .

A light conversation flew through them, himself just nodding and smiling from the corners, how he wished he could apologise and confess about the reason of his outburst.

But he couldn't , not right-

The door of the ball open abruptly , the face of his stepmother, made his eyes widen, letting go of Hongjoong body and hands. He made a quick exit, one he heard multiple footsteps appeared behind the madame. The click struck twelve , and just like the original, the magic came to an end.
