Narrator's POV
Right after coming back home , Seonghwa was muling over the new information that he had just witness. He couldn't get over the fact that he had physically entered a book, relived history, and saw that the Queen was in fact the stepsister of Cinderella. But before he could see the whereabouts of the evil twin, the book ended abruptly. How was it possible after the war? Was she not defeated by the founder of the city ?
The silence was making Yunho anxious, thinking that his hyung's was back to the depressive mood he had been felling since the festival. The silence was getting too much for the golden retriever of a man, so he broke it by asking how was the library.
Seonghwa gave a one word answer and went back to staring at the window of the car.
It was quite a ride until I arrived home. It seems that Seonghwa's personality turned 180, becoming talkative once inside the house, retelling a story to read shortly since he wasn't allowed to take them home. It was the rule at the Royal library since the books are ancient, some dating back to 1000 years old, and the texts that were older than that were stored in high security places.
Yunho was a little surprised and worried about the sudden change, but if that's what it took for Seonghwa to feel a little better, he would gladly play along. He nodded at every word, exchanging words of amazement of the plot that his hyung was describing, and then making fun out of the situations, making Seonghwa laugh out of disbelief of how bad the pun was.
Mingi came out of the house to greet them, wrapping his arms around his husband, diving for his lips, a sweet kiss of welcome home that they usually did. Seonghwa out of respect and jealousy turned his eyes away, counting down to ten before turning back to them.
They were now holding hands as they suggested getting some food with a movie, then Seonghwa proposed to a game and whoever won would have been able to choose the movie.
Seonghwa had been practising weeks before the festival, so he was hoping to win , but Yunho, mister perfect at everything, won, but let Mingi decide on the movie like the lovesick fools they were. It was an American film, Princess Mia.
They made dinner and ate happily before grabbing snacks to eat right after the movie got set up. Yunho went through his Netlix selecting the movie and got comfortable .
The movie played, and the last part where Mia was at the prom with her correct date, the topic of the ball came. Since it was a gender-neutral party there was expected a variety of clothing, dresses, dress and trousers , tuxedos with skirts etc. A good place for fashion artists to get creative without a limit, since the prince didn't seem to be opposed to gender-fluid dressing.
Mingi went on to say that he had been at the ball in his red tuxedo, the same one that he used to marry Yunho. His outfit was a bit tattered as it allowed him to stay within the crowd unnoticed. The statement made Seonghwa questions his motives . Mingi simply replied, that he was about to be married off of some old man, since he was poor at the time.
Seonghwa nodded, recalling that his mother had been in a similar situation, but he found it odd that it was a situation that still happened. Mingi didn't seem to be old, so what type of families still supported arranged marriages?
Seonghwa pushed the thought since he had no knowledge about the world. He was a recluse, by force, being at home most of his life and in his room, and might have missed important information on the way of life.
Yunho went on to say that he just got a suit with frills all over.
Then the couple asked him if he ever thought of his own gown for that special evening.
Funnily enough, Seonghwa was obsessed with the ball. Since he was a shy kid, he dreamed of going to the ball to showcase how confident he was.
What better way to do it if not at the ball ?
As he got older, that idea fizzled out. He did gain a hobby from it, making his clothes since the stepmother rarely bought him any, only when his father came home, he would find 2 or 3 new clothing items. He made a few gowns, but the one that he made was pretty pink and sparkly. It was a dress that took a lot of time and challenge to make and ended loving it so much that he wanted to recreate it, but none were like the first one.
Too bad that it was in the dreaded house that he didn't want to get back to.
"We could help you get it back? ", Mingi said sparkled in eye
"Yeah ! Since it means so much to you".
"So exciting! We will be like totally spies but stealing ", Mingi added , in glee of an adventure. Maybe it's boring for him to be a stay at home husband.
He felt a bit uncomfortable with that idea of going back there , especially since by this time the madame will have a fit over the fact that he run away from home. Not a good look for a socialite.
"I'll think about it"
Content with the response , they went back to the movie. As soon as it ended, they talked until late before going to bed after setting up everything and cleaning.
As he got ready to sleep, he went through his stuff, in his bag, adding notes in the journal. The little treasure chest he found at the tree house fell on the floor and a small note was in there.
The small note read: "go to the house".
He looked at it, but he accepted that it might have been a sign. He really needed to fulfil the original requirement: the dress disaster.
