A worthy opponent | Chapter 6

You and Aki walked out of the building, and the whole time it was surprisingly silent. He didnt seem to feel akward, and neither did you. Though Aki always had the same serious expression, so it was seriously hard to tell what he was feeling. You then noticed him leading you to a car, which turned out to be his. He took his keys out and with a click of a button, he unlocked it, motioning you to get in. You opened the door and sat in the passenger seat, and he followed you inside, sitting in the driver's seat. He put on his seatbelt and so did you, and he started the car. You both drove off, and it was still silent. But now you felt the akwardness kicking in. You looked outside the window, pretending to be lost in the view outside that wasnt all that mesmerizing. Aki didnt seem to bother tho, as he was focused on the road instead of you. You really started to think that he's like a robot- doing his duties without deciding to do anything fun inbetween.

Your thoughts were suddenly cut off by a strange loud ringing noise that you heard. And it was deffinitly happening inside your head. You placed your hand on your forehead instinctively, the noise making you extremely uncomfortable. For a moment you felt like you were gonna pass out, but then the noise dissipated. Aki noticed your reaction and his eyes went wide ever so slightly as he turned his gaze to you for a brief moment "Hey, are you okay?" He asked, his serious voice having an undertone of concern. You looked at him and nodded "I... Yeah yeah... I-im fine..." He looked at you with a rather suspicious expression before deciding to let it go for now

"Alright... If you have a headache i have some pills with me that you can use" He said as he kept his eyes on the road.
"No no.. im alright, really. Thanks." You waved your hand dismisively, and he nodded slightly "Okay..."
"What the hell was that just now?.." You asked yourself in your thoughts, still questioning the weird ringing sound you just herd.

Before you knew it, you two arrived somewhere. You both got out of the car and closed the doors. You looked around and immidiately recognized where you were- a cemetary? Why would you guys meet up with Kishibe here?
You were weirded out at first but nonetheless you followed Aki. You went into the graveyard, looking at the countless tombstones that were all over the place. It made you feel slightly uneasy, and it immidiately reminded you of your family. Aki seemed unbothered, and then you two came to a stop.

"Lets wait for him here." Aki said before pulling out a pack of cigarettes, taking out one and placing it inbetween his lips. He then realized that maybe he should offer you one. So he took out another cigarette and offered it to you
"Want one?" He asked softly.
You accepted it and nodded "Thanks"
He lit his cigarette up and he then handed the lighter over to you, and you lit it up aswell, returning him the lighter after.
He stuffed it in his pocket and took a drag, blowing out the smoke "I didnt think you'd be a smoker.. You look too young to be one" He said as he inspected your face, assuming that you're at least 16
"I'm 18." You said as you blew out your drag, without coughing up the smoke.
His eyebrows went up just slightly "Huh... Not bad.." he took another drag and blew it out "So... You joined Public Safety because of your brother?"
You nodded "That was one of the reasons. The other being because i want to... Have my revenge" You paused as you formulated your other reason differently, not wanting to say that its because your family was killed. Aki seemed to be interested now "Revenge, huh? So a devil killed someone you loved?"

You blew out the smoke "My parents and younger sister."
Aki's eyes widened slightly, not believing his ears. He didnt expect in a million years he'd meet someone with a simillar story as him.
"My family has been killed aswell.." he said softly, almost with no emotion as he finished his cigarette, putting it out and throwing it away somewehere on the ground.
You nodded "Yeah, i know. Himeno told me."
"Himeno?" He blinked a few times as his gaze returned to you, and suddenly, his expression turned into a more playfull one and he smirked slightly "And let me guess, she talked you into smoking?"
You were a bit surprised by his guess "How did you know?"
He couldnt help but let out a dark chuckle, a smirk still lingering at the corner of his lips "Well, she did the same to me."
You couldnt help but feel more connected to Aki now in a way. You felt like smiling at what he said but, even so, you couldnt.
You took your final drag and put the cigarette out, throwing it somewhere on the ground.
