In Saffron, you choose to be involved in either Clubs or Sports or both, depending on you. I had chose a club, because that meant less stress but a certain someone had convinced me to try out for the Badminton team in my first year of Senior Secondary and suprisingly, I made the team.
The sport was cool and all and I had grown used to it within the years but there were still a lot of things I hated about it. The tedious warm-up exercises that accompanied it, stood proudly at the top of that list.
After we had carried out the plyometrics and dynamic stretching exercises to Soma's satisfaction, he made us do balance exercises and footwork drills, then cardio for completion.
We had jogged around the school and back to the Badminton hall and the moment my eyes found the nearest bleacher, I collapsed unto it. I hadn't done a single exercise or anything close to it throughout the holiday so it was taking a huge toll on me.
My muscles felt sore and tight; almost numb from the fatigue, my calves and quads specifically. My breathes were shallow and labored due to the constriction of the airways in my chest. The high temperature of the hall and the weather in general, weren't helping matters, causing a bit of lightheadedness.
I fought the urge to discard on the floor, the sportswear I was clad in.
“Sup, babygirl?”
The sound of blood pumping in my ears and my erratic heartbeat almost dominated Yu-ri's voice as she slid in next to me. I did a double take once my eyes properly accessed her visage.
She was intact. From the steady pace of her breathes to her skin that was emitting it's usual radiance, not even in the slightest affected by hours under the sun—thanks to sunscreen—down to her crisp, white canvas.
Except from the beads of sweat that dotted her smooth forehead, and some wisps of hair dropping out of its bun, she was unfazed.
I was most certain my appearance was like that of one who tangoed with some wild animal.
God when?
Her next words proved that she had seen the awestricken look dabbed across my face, a hearty, bubbly chuckle that instantly made me smile, eluding her lips. “Don't give me that look. This is nothing compared to the ones what I do to keep fit. Yunno, modeling thingz. Hehe.”
Crazy but yeah, sometimes it was hard to keep up with that piece of information. Sometimes, the fact that I was friends with a supermodel completely eluded me as the girl in question was just so…normal and down-to-earth.
Wait, did I say normal? Well, scratch that. This mixed-race girl was one of the craziest person I knew.
“Besides,” She continues, giving me this pointed, amused look. “it's not like you exercised this body of yours during the holiday so it's pretty normal if you look disheveled like someone who'd just been banged.”
