I had myself to blame for thinking that using the SS2's back corridor to get to my class was gonna draw less attention. I was pretty sure I had covered well; I wore a knee-length socks instead of my usual ankle ones and a baggy hoodie. My bruised cheek was buried under thick concealer and I made sure to style my hair in a way that hid the bump at the side of my head so then, why were this people staring at me like I had underwear hanging on my head?

As whispers sprouted from more angles and mulitple gazes locked on me with each step I took, I could feel panic wrecking havoc on my insides.

“See his babe here sef.”

My ears caught the voice of one of three girls as I crossed by. Maybe, if they weren't being so loud I would've paid them no heed and continued walking but they were and my curiousity demanded to be fed so I halted in my tracks, pulled out my bag and pretended to be looking for something inside it.

Luckily, they didn't seem to understand my motive and kept on talking.

“Abi Toviella or what sef? Such a lucky girl.”

“Do you get? Who will have mind to get on her nerve?

“When they are not mad? Just one slap that wasn't even intentional and look at Tobiloba's state. Then imagine when it was intentional zi.”

“Like girllll, the strength is strength-ing!”

“Imagine the things he does to her with those hands.”

“No abeg, I don't want to imagine before I die from jealousy and oppression.”

I zipped up my bag and walked away not bothering to spare a glance at them to place faces to their voices because standing there, listening to them was already damaging my brain cells and reducing my IQ. Pathetic things that didn't know what to use their time for.

From the little sensible information I got from them, it seemed Soma had done something. Something that had the entire senior block buzzing. And that was why as soon as I got to our class’ floor, I didn't hesitate to ask the nearest classmate what the fuss was all about.

“Oh, you didn't hear?” Ifeoluwa answered my question with a question of her own, her eyes slightly dilated.

“If I did why the hell would I be here right now asking you?” That was what I almost(italics) screamed at her face but I maintained composure and said, “No.” instead.
