As Devasena is rocking Lava to sleep, she sees Shivaya deep in her thoughts. Devasena hated her at the beginning. But the more she came to know her she was amused.
Devasena is skilled in trading and foreign relationships. Whereas Shivaya is a very talented sword weilder and amazing politician. Seeing her always so meek, Devasena never thought her being so keen about politics.
"What are you thinking?" Devasena asks.
"Jiji... something isn't right...." Shivaya says concerned.
"What do you mean?" Maya asks.
Four of them have just left Nandini's chamber and has come to the chamber where the children are.
"No matter what the situation is, Mamashree would never pull Bhrata Shrutasena away at such an auspicious night," Shivaya points.
Siyaanshi who is silent from the very start, meets Shivaya's eyes.
"Jiji, do you know anything?" Devasena asks.
"I fear! Pitashree Arjuna and Pitashree Sahadeva has confessed," Siyaanshi says.
"What is there to fear, Didi?" Maya asks putting Chandrakantha on her cradle.
"That means the war will start soon," Shivaya whispers.
The entire chamber falls completely silent.
"I recall Arya telling me about it. Their confession got delayed for almost over 2 years. And everyone was eagerly waiting for it to end," Shivaya says.
"I still don't understand why didn't they won Hashtinapur when they were on their quest of Digvijayyatra!" Maya comments.
The atmosphere changes in the chamber. The happiness and excitement they all were feeling vanishes.
Devasena let's out a shaky breath. Her head spins at the sudden revelation.
"Devasena!" Maya calls worried.
Devasena runs out and vomits suddenly. Shivaya follows her and helps her with water.
"What's wrong?"
"Why didn't you tell us you are sick?"
Siyaanshi and Maya comes out running as well.
"Jiji was fasting the entire day. And after she heard...she isn't feeling well," Shivaya rubs Devasena's back.
"Shivaya, take Devasena back in her chamber. Maya, stay with the children. I will make some light food," Siyaanshi orders.
Devasena's heart is hammering crazily. The war... it's finally going to start. No other reason can justify interrupting such auspicious night other than that.
Shivaya takes Devasena in her chamber and lays her down carefully.
Nandini tries to keep her eyes open. As much as she could. Her heart is filled with hurt and longing. What happened so important that he is absent from their very first night together?
"Are you still...." Nandini whispers to the maid.
"Rajkumari, they are still in their chamber," the maid informs.
"Disperse for the night," Nandini orders her voice filled with emotions.
Her sister in law had to leave. Their sons and daughter needed them. Devasena and Shivaya will assist them. Nandini is left alone in this entire chamber. On her very first night. Her heart swelling with hurt towards her husband How can he leave her alone at such auspicious night? What work did he had that was so important to leave his newly wedded wife so brutally?
