Chapter 195 : Kurutshetra (Part 02)

(DAY - 01)

Prativindhya looks straight from his horse. Again, Arjuna's front is open and Bhisma and Dronachaya are marching towards him.

From nowhere Dhristadhyumna appears. Giving Arjuna time to go to another place while he fights with Bhisma, Dronachaya takes another turn.

Prativindhya's Gurudeva Mahadeva and Parshurama has told him, to see first. As long as his head remains calm, he won't lose in war. To see what they are planning. And so far, Prativindhya has understood the most major part of the war. Dronachaya and Bhisma needs to be defeated at all costs.

"Acharya!" Prativindhya shouts.

Dronachaya turns his chariot. He turns to see Prativindhya marching towards him on his horse. Dronachaya's heart does a flip. As if the ever burning sun is marching towards him to engulf his entirely. With Rajtilak on his forehead and spear on his hand, Dronachaya could forsee Yama himself coming to war.

"Fight me, Acharya!" Prativindhya calls onto him.

Dronachaya's face falls, "Putra! My target isn't you but your fathes. What I wish is to end this war as soon as possible. I won't fight you. Go..."

"But I want to fight you. If you manage to defeat me, take my head to my father and ask him to fight!" Prativindhya charges.

Despite not wanting, Dronachaya raises his weapon against Prativindhya.

Arjuna stumbles on his chariot as the ground shakes.

"Madhav! What just happened?" Arjuna asks surprised.

"Prativindhya has evoked Guru Dronachaya to fight," Krishna answers.

"Gurudeva? Prativindhya went directly to him?" Arjuna asks surprised.

"He is a very intelligent man, Partha. He figured out where to strike first," Krishna answers.

Arjuna tries to look, "Where's the rest?"

"Missed me, Pitashree?" Satanika comes to him on Veer from the right side.

"Putra, why aren't you fighting along your brothers? Your Jyesht...."

"Pitashree, I will be only a hinderence in Jyesht's way. What do I do? Noone challenges me. Kakashree Vikarna waved at me but doesn't evoke!" Satanika complains more, "I have been going around evoking whomever I see. No one accepts."

Arjuna and Krishna couldn't help but laugh. Sutasoma, Satanika, Shrutakarma and Shrutasena are seriously out of luck today. Noone is evoking them nor accepting their challenge.

"Go, assist your Mamashree Dhristadhyumna. He is facing Bhisma alone," Krishna asks.

Satanika let's out a cry of joy and runs his horse towards that direction.

The first day goes that way. It was a tie. Not because they didn't fight but both sides were observing the other's tactics. The sun sets and conches blow signalling the end of first day.

Draupadi waits eagerly along with her mother Maharani Prisati, Kunti, Sudeshna and Uttara. Vrishaketu behind her on Malini's lap. They return. Seeing them all return without any injuries and minor soldier loss, all women sigh in relief.

"Putra, why did you rush?" Yudhisthira asks Prativindhya concerned.

Prativindhya is the only one to be injured. It isn't something very bad. Only a slash on his leg. Nakula and Sahadeva run to make lep for it the moment they see it.

"I didn't, Pitashree," Prativindhya answers baffled.

Krishna supports him, "He is right. He didn't rush, Jyesht!"
