Sitting at a lunch table with the rest of her friends, all Summer could think about was her mother's new fling she had met the night before, more specifically, how her mother said she wouldn't be home tonight because she was going out with this Hayden guy again. It never worked like this. Her mother would find a man, go out for drinks and then cut him loose. They never stuck, but Summer couldn't shake the feeling that this one would.
"Did you guys hear about Sam Larusso and Kyler?" A tall brunette girl by the name of Holly asked, a teasing smirk on her face as she leaned in to tell her table the gossip she had overheard in homeroom. Summer paid no attention, picking at her cuticles and mentally planning to book another nail appointment soon.
"How she sucked him off in a movie theatre?" Another girl, Summer thinks her name was Charlotte, added.
"So despicable." The third and final girl Summer allowed to sit with her, Emma, said with a gag. "What do you think, Summer?" Holly asked, making all heads turn towards the dark haired girl, who reluctantly tore her eyes away from her nails to shoot them all an unimpressed look.
"I think Kyler is a lying, worthless piece of shit. He probably didn't even go to the movies with Sam." Summer spat harshly.
She had never been friends with Sam due to the fact that she hung around Yasmine, a blonde girl who Summer couldn't stand, and before Sam made her new friends, Summer didn't even have a clue to who she was. She usually wouldn't care for the gossip, hell, she might have even joined in on the rumours, but her new found hatred for Kyler refused to allow her to further his bullying, even if it was just discussing it with her friend group.
Plus, slut shaming was so 90s.
"You're so right." Charlotte rolled her eyes, stabbing a fork into her salad before raising it to her mouth. "Yeah, I never believed it anyways." Emma added in, Holly nodding along in agreement.
"Hey Kyler! Why don't you shut the hell up and stop being an asshole?" A commotion broke out from across the cafeteria, all four girls' heads snapping towards the noise.
Summer all but groaned at the sight of Miguel defending Sam's honour by stepping up the bully. Had he learnt nothing by the multiple relentless beatdowns he had already been handed?
"Who is that?" Holly laughed, already getting her phone out to record. "Nobody important, clearly." Emma joked, rubbing her lips together to spread out the lip balm she had just applied.
Summer bit her tongue, tempted to correct her friends, but refrained as she watched intently on the fight that was brewing before her very eyes.
"You want another beatdown, Rhea?" Kyler asked, shoving the smaller boy back into a table. "I'm ready for your lame ass karate this time."
"It's not lame ass karate." Miguel shot back, raising his hands just in time to block off a punch being thrown his way. "It's Cobra Kai."
Summer watched with an impressed smirk as Miguel got the upper hand, him and Kyler going back and forth before Kyler's friends felt the need to jump in. Miguel didn't even glance at them momentarily before he fought them off too.
Everyone in the cafeteria circled around, phones videoing and people commentating with their friends. No one had ever seen someone of the likes of Kyler be put in their place before, and it seemed as if everyone was enjoying it.
It ended with Kyler and his three friends splayed out across the cafeteria floor and Miguel standing atop of a table, the rest of his peers cheering loudly.
The Diaz boy's eyes searched the crowd, finding Summer's. The girl gave him a shrug as he shot her a smile before he was all but dragged off the lunch table and to the office.

Summer O'Connor had gotten home from school and immediately fell into a nap on the couch in the living room, dreaming of a life where she lived anywhere else but The Valley. Maybe New York, potentially even Paris.
Anywhere away from the boring clutches of her home town.
However, her peace was soon interrupted as she was awoken by the relentless banging on her front door. The girl groaned, muttering profanities as she stomped towards her front door, swinging it open and glaring at the boy on the other side with an unimpressed scowl.
"Did you see what I did today?" Miguel exclaimed as he shoved past the girl and made his way into her living room, where he recapped all his moves whilst pacing back and forth.
"I'm well aware, freak. I was there." Summer snapped before sitting back down on her couch and scrolling through her phone.
"But did you see me?" Miguel exclaimed once more, excitement coating his features as he jumped up and down in a celebratory fashion.
"How did you find out where I lived?" Summer suddenly asked, her eyebrows raised as she scrutinised the boy. "That's not important." Miguel brushed off, "what is important is that Kyler will never bother me again."
"This couldn't have been said over text?" Summer quipped.
"You told me that you don't give your phone number to losers?" Miguel's eyebrows shot together, reminiscing on the other day where Summer had laughed in his face and then stubbed the heel of her Jimmy Choos in his foot for asking a dumb question.
Summer thought for a moment, a humorous smile breaking out onto her face, "I did do that."
"Plus, what I'm about to ask you, I knew you would just block me if I did it over text." Miguel shrugged, flopping down next to the spot next to the girl and pouting at her. Summer's eyebrows shot together in disgust, the girl half tempted to kick the boy out of her house.
"I think you should join Cobra Kai."
Miguel's sudden statement caused the girl's jaw to fall, before a loud laugh sounded from her throat. "You're joking, right?"
"No, I think you would enjoy it, actually." Miguel began, "I mean, you already have a knack for violence and this way you won't have to damage anymore of your handbags."
"Um, are you insinuating that my handbags are bad enough quality to get damaged? Cause I'll have you know that they're worth more than you." Summer snapped at the boy, who rolled his eyes in response.
"You told me that one of them had a Kyler shaped hole in it from the other day?"
Summer thought for a moment before nodding her head, "I did say that, yeah."
