Comet looked up, her eyes lighting up. Before her was Jacques.
"Sweet apples, you're alive!" She ran to the HiveWing and hugged him tightly. "Thank the moons!"
Jacques smiled, returning the hug. "I'm just glad you are, too. Do you know about the others?"
"No, I'm sorry."
"No need to apologize. Knowing them, I'm sure they were smart enough to escape."
"You're right. Thanks, Jacques."
"Of course." Jacques pulled away. "So, uh, why were you crying onto a chest?"
Comet laughed softly. "Funny story. I uh..I thought you guys were dead."
"Makes sense. But why onto a chest?"
"Well..here, i'll just show you." She walked over to the chest and opened it, careful to keep Cinder's armor out of Jacques' view. She took out a small bag and closed the chest. "In here is a bunch of letters I wrote for you guys. You can read yours if you want."
"That's ok, Comet," Jacques insisted. "I don't want to invade your privacy."
"Aren't you just a bit curious?"
"Well...maybe."
"I give you permission to read it. Here." Comet handed Jacques a scroll that was addressed under his name. He opened it and read it.
Dear Jacques,
I'm sorry I couldn't save you. You were a good friend, and I viewed you as if you were my own son. You were strong and caring, and I so appreciated that. You strived to always be there for others. In a way, I wish I had the same courage you did.
Thank you for being such a positive impact on my life. I'm so sorry I couldn't save you the way you saved others.

Jacques wiped a tear from his eyes. "Comet, I..thank you."
Comet gave Jacques another hug. "I love you so much, Jacques."
Jacques sniffled, burying his face in Comet's shoulder. "I love you, too, Comet."
Comet pulled away. "Well, what now?"
Jacques shrugged. "Should we go try and find them? Maybe they're still in the Sky Kingdom."
Comet nodded. "Good idea. Let's go." With that, the two flew to the Sky Kingdom, hoping to find the others.
