"Cinder is dead."

Comet couldn't believe her ears. Cinder? Dead? That...That wasn't possible.

"How?" Comet asked aloud.

"We presume it was suicide," Phoenixfire said. "Ronin found her body, with wounds she could have only inflicted upon herself. That's why we wanted Eagle."

Comet looked to Eagle. She knew firsthand that they could bring back the dead. It was what they had done for her, as well as Jacques and Angel.

But she felt selfish asking them herself.

"So, let me get this straight. You want me to revive Cinder?"

Phoenixfire nodded.

Comet looked to Jacques, who looked back at her. "Do you think they'll do it?" he asked her.

"I...I don't know. But I hope so."

She couldn't say she needed Cinder. Or how her nights were spent trying to get Cinder out of her head.

Or how she never got the closure of if Cinder really loved her back.

Eagle sighed. "I...I don't know. What if I lose my soul?"

"Did you lose it when you revived us?" Jacques asked.

"Well, no, but that's because that was my first time reviving someone. And it was 3. What if 4 is the maximum? Or 3 is, and one more will take my soul?"

Comet bit her lip. Eagle was right. Animus magic was a slippery slope.

Suddenly, Comet heard a familiar voice. "You don't lose your soul from animus magic in general. You lose your soul from using it for bad." She turned to see the voice was Ronin's.

He was alive.

The 3 dragons collectively ran to the RainWing. Comet scooped him up into a hug. "Ronin!" they all yelled in unison.

He laughed softly. "Hello to you, too."

Comet set her son down. "Is it true? Is Cinder really..."

Ronin looked down. "Yea..."

Comet held back tears. "It's ok. You did all you could."

"I know, but...I can't help but feel like it was my fault. What if...what if IR did something to her?"

"Ro, this is Cinder we're talking about," Jacques said. "IR could never hurt Cinder."

"But...what if he did? Or worse, what if he drove her to suicide? What if...what if I drove her to suicide?"

Comet hugged Ronin again, Jacques and Angel following. "Ronin, don't think like that. It's not your fault. None of this is."

Ronin began to sniffle, sobbing quietly. "But it is! If I hadn't let IR take control..."

"Ronin. Stop. It's not your fault."

He sighed, crying into Comet's shoulder. "I just want Cin back."

"We all do, kid." Comet sighed. She couldn't bear watching Ronin cry. She knew he needed Cinder more than anyone.

More than she did.

Eagle cleared their throat. "I hate to interrupt, but..." They stepped forward, towards Phoenixfire. "Where is Cinder's body?"
