----------------

This was it.

Cinder's one chance to finally dethrone Skyblaze.

She had been waiting her whole life.

She knew Soot was just as ecstatic. That was one thing they had in common.

That, and a bloodline.

Cinder finally decided to ask. "Soot?"

Soot looked over to Cinder, speeding himself up to fly right next to her. "Yea?"

"Who exactly is replacin' Skyblaze?"

Soot thought for a moment. "You remember Mother's stories of Skyblaze's family?"

"Yea. I could never forget the horrors."

"Well, there's somethin' neither she, nor Father, have ever admitted. She has livin' family."

Cinder was shocked. She could remember Mother's stories that she would tell Cinder and Soot at bedtime, back when they were dragonets. Her mother's words still rang in her ears.

"Long ago, when Skyblaze first became the queen, she was respected. She was a decent queen, and loved rulin' for her tribe. Even her family respected her, and there weren't any signs of rebellion from any of 'em.

"Even so, Skyblaze grew afraid over the years. She ordered her generals to kill all of 'er family members. That way, none of 'er sisters, nor nieces, could steal the throne. She even had her sons killed, so that they couldn't have daughters that could inherit the throne. She refused to mate after that."

Cinder then asked, "how?"

"Our grandfather, who was tasked with killin' one of Skyblaze's younger sisters, secretly kept 'er in a special dungeon. He would make sure to always get food and water delivered to the young princess, so that one day, when she was old enough, she could take the throne from Skyblaze."

"Grandfather?" Cinder asked. "So how old is the princess now? And how has she been alive so long?"

"It's been a family secret. When he died, and Father took his place, he soon learned of the secret princess. Over the years, as I started helpin' with his duties, he assigned me to help take care of the princess. Even when he became corrupted by Skyblaze, I still kept her alive, knowin' firsthand how bad she was."

"So why did you become a general if you knew how bad she was?"

"Someone had to fill Father's place. I knew I had to. One, so I could get insight on how to take 'er down, and two, so I could make sure the princess was alive."

"Hmm. What's the princess's name?"

"Phoenixfire. And to answer y'er question, she's about 4 'er 5 years younger than Skyblaze."

"Mmm. How old is Skyblaze, anyway?"

Soot shrugged. "At least old enough to be rulin' when Grandfather was alive."

"Mmm. Speakin' of, we're here."

The Sky Kingdom never looked more dim than it did now. The sun was hidden by the clouds. It looked as if it were about to rain.

Cinder, Ronin, and Soot all landed at the entrance of the palace, hidden from view.

"So, how is this gonna work?" Ronin asked.

Soot inhaled. "I've had a plan for a while. You two are gonna go in the palace and deal with Skyblaze. I don't care how you do it, just kill her, and any guards who dare interfere. While you do that, I'll sneak through the prisons to where Phoenixfire is being held. I'll get 'er out, and bring her to the throne, to finally give her the throne she deserves."

Cinder and Ronin nodded. Soot then ran to a secret entrance on the side of the palace.

"You ready, Ro?" Cinder asked Ronin.

"Ready as I'll ever be," he answered. His scales shifted, and he went invisible.

...

here's the gore part

hehe

----------------

Ronin stalked into the palace, seeing Skyblaze sitting on her throne. He looked back, seeing Cinder through a crack in the concrete.

He took a deep breath, walking closer to the queen.

He grabbed a dagger from one of his sheaths, spinning it in his talon. He stalked even closer to the queen, so close he could hear her breathing.

He then quickly stabbed the dagger through Skyblaze's head, jumping back. Skyblaze screamed in pain, turning around. "WHO DARE?!"

Cinder then ran in, a grin widening on her snout. She grabbed her own dagger and pounced on Skyblaze. Her head hit the floor, the dagger stabbing right through her eye. She gasped in pain, her eye dripping on the edge of the blade.

Cinder smiled, stabbing her own dagger right through Skyblaze's heart. Skyblaze gasped, watching as her heart was pulled right out, still pulsating on the blade.

Cinder stood up. "It's over, Skyblaze. Y'er reign of terror is over."

Skyblaze gasped for air. "I'll...make you...pay for this...Cinder..." Those were her last words as her final breath was drawn. Skyblaze's form went limp.

Finally, the queen was dead.

Cinder smiled, grabbing the eye from the blade. She grabbed a case from inside her pouch, and put the eye inside of it.

Ronin was disgusted. "Why are you taking her eye?"

"As a token for killin' 'er. I'll make it into a necklace later."

"That is so gross, Cin."

Cinder shrugged, then taking the heart out of her blade, and eating on it.

That triggered IR. Mmm, let me consume her flesh.

Ronin held his held, whining as IR fought even harder to gain control.

Even as he continued to keep IR back, the inevitable came to be.

IR gained control.

Ronin fell limp, feeling as his consciousness slipped away from him.

----------------

here's le explanation

so basically Ronin and Cinder both stab Skyblaze. Ronin in the eye, Cinder in the heart. Cinder takes her eye as a token for finally killing her. then she eats her heart cuz why not.

that triggers IR, the cannibal he is, and the chapter ends with Ronin falling unconscious

yea
