Averie's POV
Today is Mama's birthday! Daddy says we're having a special day, just the three of us. That's fine by me because I don't like sharing anyway. I want her to myself all day long, but I guess it's okay if Daddy's here too. We are in London so he can't go anywhere.Mama said we're going away for Christmas soon, she rented a castle somewhere. I'm so excited to be a real princess with a castle. Grandma and Grandpa are going to be there too, plus my Uncles. Mama also said that her parents were coming. I don't know if Austin will be there, Mama said he might have other plans. That's lame, who would pass on living in a castle?
We started the day with pancakes, which I helped make. Daddy said my mixing made the batter extra fluffy, but really, I just wanted to make a mess. Mama came into the kitchen with her sleepy face, and I shouted, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA!" She laughed and kissed my forehead, thanking me for the greeting. Mama has very good manners. I know that because Daddy told me I need to work on mine and be more like Mama.
After breakfast, Daddy said I needed to "burn off some energy." He says that a lot, like I'm some sort of rocket ship. Grown-ups are funny. So we put on our coats and boots, I chose my purple coat with sparkles, the prettiest coat in the whole world. The backyard grass was all white and crunchy. "Look, Daddy! It's like I'm walking on sugar!" I said, stomping my boots in the snow.
"More like frost," Daddy said, snapping a picture of me. "But sugar sounds better. Say cheese, Nugget!"
"Cheeeeese!" I shouted, holding my arms out like I was flying.
Mama laughed. "You're like a mini model, love."
"I'm a big girl model!" I declared before rushing off towards the swings.
I climbed onto the swing with Mama's help. It was still a little too tall for me. "Push me! Higher, Mama! I want to touch the clouds!"
"Alright, but hold on tight," Mama said, giving me a big push. "You're going to give me gray hairs at this rate!"
"Nooo, Mama. You're too pretty for gray hairs!" I giggled. She laughed too and kept pushing me higher and higher. Daddy kept snapping pictures.
"Hold still for one second, Nugget!" Daddy teased, his camera pointed at me.
"You hold still, Daddy!" I said, kicking my legs as I soared. "You're not flying, I am!"
"Got me there," he muttered with a grin, shaking his head.
After the swings, it was time for the slide. "It's icy!" I shouted, poking it with my mittens. "I'm going to go soooo fast!"
"Careful, baby love," Mama warned, but I was already climbing up.
"Ready, steady...Wheeeee!" I zoomed down and landed in the snow with a big poof. "Mama, Daddy, I'm like Olaf!" I spread my arms wide, almost making a snow angel. Then I remembered that Mama had followed me up the steps to the slide so it's her turn. I need to get out of the way so she doesn't run me over.
Mama came next. "Alright, my turn!" she said, sitting at the top of the slide.
"Go, Mama, go!" I cheered, standing a good distance away from the landing zone.
"Wheeeee!" Mama shouted as she slid down. When she hit the bottom, she landed on her bum and looked a bit surprised.
"Are you okay, Mama?" I said, trying my best not to laugh at her dazed expression.
"Yeah, I think I zoomed a little too fast, my ass hurts," she groaned.
"Ahh!!! Mama said a bad word, Daddy!!" I shouted instantly telling Daddy in case he didn't hear.
