Two Years Later

Life couldn't get more beautiful than this. With her being by my side, I felt like the happiest man alive. She was growing into a gorgeous lady right before my eyes. These two years had been the longest yet the fastest to kill. I was desperate for her to grow up but also contented to be a part of her journey. To be able to see her shine. There was nothing more satisfying to my soul than to see her everyday. I left no stone unturned in her upbringing. I made sure to give her the life she so much deserved. My angel that she was, deserved nothing less than a fairytale and I was hell bent on making her my fairy, my queen, my luna. Mate or not, it was hard to imagine a life without her. I had become so addicted to her presence in my life that I wouldn't want to live a day in which she would not be present.
Suddenly the door to my room barged open and a smile leaked my lip under the covers. "Wakey wakey, Mr. Alpha, it's time to live the beautiful morning," Her sweet voice echoed across the room, sedating my ears, stealing my heartbeats. I kept my eyes shut and heard her footsteps picking up notches.
"Alpha! Boom!" She pounced over me, hugged me from behind and put her chin on my bare shoulder. "Wake upppp, you can't sleep for long today," She tingled my earbud and mumbled along. I was smiling inwardly but continued pretending to sleep. Waking me up had become her daily routine. And I was no one to complain. Instead I looked forward to waking up to her melodious voice everyday.
"Look I know you are awake and currently throwing a tantrum. I thought we settled the matter last night?" She trailed and waited for my response but I felt like testing her patience. "Come on, you promised me you won't ignore me, now what you are doing is exactly ignoring me," She whined sadly. It was true I was throwing a silent tantrum. After what happened last night, I wasn't fond of it repeating again. She was not allowed to stay late in the woods with a male wolf. Staying late in my territory wasn't the problem, being alone with a male wolf in the woods was.
"Did you learn your lesson?" I asked through closed eyes. She nodded against my shoulder. The urge to do unexplainable things to her.
"I won't stay late in the woods," She recalled one rule from last night's lecture.
"And?" I probed further.
"I will take a female wolf with me next time," I quick-opened my eyes and she threw a smirk at me. A tease written right on her forehead.
"Bella," I sternly called her.
"I was joking," She chuckled but yelped when I yanked her forward and threw her on the mattress. Her hands fell on my bare chest and her warmth spreading in my body did wonders to me. I was laying beside her with half my body leaning on her.
"I am serious, little one. You will not go out alone without me, especially at night. You have no idea how dangerous it gets during night-time. And apart from that I don't feel comfortable with you being away from me, you understand that?" I cooed like a little baby that she was. She was my baby...until we would have our own. The tension between us had started to mount but I kept my itch at bay.
"Yes, Mr. Big-Pants, I totally get it. No sneak outs. Curfew time 10." She nodded in a teasing manner and extracted a warm chuckle out of me with her pout sitting on her lips in the end.
"Now it's time for you to get up. You have lots of duties to perform. And then...your promise," She folded up her body as she muffled the last part. I smirked. Every time I found her taking interest in my Alpha duties, I felt relieved. I still remember the day when I had to tell her about our truth. I had never been that nervous in my life before. I wasn't sure if she would be able to handle it. One of my warriors shifted during a heated argument and she witnessed him. She stayed quiet for a few days until I confronted her. When I explained to her about the tales of our legacy, she keenly listened to me and didn't loathe or get scared unlike I was expecting. Moreover, she urged me to tell her more. And from that day till now, she had been enjoying my Alpha position more than I was. I was grateful to Moon Goddess for making her so flexible and open.
