"Mate,"
The world ceased to exist for me. I forgot to blink after looking at the girl I adored for two years and with each breath I prayed for her to be my mate. Today, the universe granted me my most desired wish. The answer was given. This interaction felt like our first time meeting each other. Her aura had magnified for me, her scent flourished intensely and her beauty was maddening me. My angel was looking breathtaking in her whitish-teal flare dress, her hair done in a perfect messy bun. Just like a princess she was, she stabbed my heart with her one look. I sighed in ecstasy and took a step ahead. The bond got heightened with every stride I took towards her. I hoped she felt that too.
I was too lost to bask in her beauty to realise she was scowling at me with her red-rimmed eyes beautified by makeup. As I reached near her bed, she folded her arms and turned her body the other way. "I am not speaking to you." She rumbled, right now I could even die for her any reaction.
I stifled my smile and rendered an apologetic face. "With my heart I apologise, sweet-cheeks, I am late," I neared her and revealed the bouquet I was hiding behind my back. It had a teddy bear in the middle with roses surrounding the love heart it was holding. On the heart, it read 'Sorry'.
"Wow. That is a lovely bouquet," Katrina marvelled and shifted her gaze at me only to get her smile stripped off. She momentarily paused watching my wolfie eyes. Mirabel spared a glance at the bouquet and lowered her woeful eyes. The gloominess was unsettling to me, I bent on my knee and extended the bouquet for her to notice again and take.
"I am really sorry, honey. I know I would have never disappointed you if I wasn't that serious," Her body slightly turned toward the bouquet, glancing at it with side eyes.
"You didn't keep your promise, it's past midnight," She sniffled, wiping her tears and taking the bouquet from my hand to her lap.
"I am aware of that, little one. I am even aware that you haven't cut your cake and all guests are waiting for you to show up and celebrate the night," I caressed her cheek and holy cow the spark I endured were far more electrifying than the ones I was used to. One touch and every pore of my body was filled with her current.
"I didn't want to go out. No one barely notices me when I am alone, everyone knows me because of you," She turned her head toward me and that was her first time seeing me eye to eye. Her eyes stilled along with her parted lips.
"Your eyes, they are golden," She noticed and I smiled. "Is this Gunnolf?" She asked ever so cutely. Gunnolf purred and forced my head to surrender in a bow. She understood the signal and ruffled my hair. Gunnolf always let her ruffle her furs. At least, it could bring out a small chuckle from her.
"We are sorry, mate," I snuffled my head in her stomach, causing her chuckle to get perkier. Katrina watched us in absolute awe. She knew Mirabel was my mate. Her witchy friend had already spilt the beans but I was waiting for the universe to unfold the truth. I was inwardly thankful to her for not taking our romantic teaser as a cringe.
"Hey, you called me mate," Mirabel uttered the moment she caught her breath when I halted.
"Yeah," I looked at her, grinning.
"What do you mean by that? Isn't it supposed to be said by the wolf-partners to each other? Sarah told me it was an off-limit word for anyone who wants to use it as an endearment and can only be used by specific people to specific people," She went on her train and kept babbling. I watched her adorably as she continued to enquire. I could admire her on my knee as long as she was willing to sit before my gaze, even if it was for days. Everything about her always drew me to her and now it elevated a hundred times.
