Maximus
I was still reeling from the fact that we had sex this morning. If I had known she would jump onto me right after realising the verity of our connection, I would have kept the preparations in line. I would have given her the joy the way she deserved—dim lights, rosey aura, slow music, great oil massage and sensual lovemaking. I planned on having a warm bath with her after the intercourse. All these years I fantasised about our first time and just in a snap, it occurred and faded like a surreal dream.
I hadn't left my bed even hours had passed by. Just kept rolling and sniffing the scent she had left off on my sheets. Her coconut fragrance. It felt as though I had a taste of heaven and immediately got stripped out of it. My hands ached to touch her soft, supple skin again, hold her face as I thrust into her and she would moan. I kept replaying all the sinful acts we had done right here. Ahh, fuck my life it passed so quick.
"Alpha, you still labouring?" Callum mind-linked.
"I wish," I replied, not hiding the disappointment in my tone.
"Has she dumped you already?" He sneered, not minding the fact his comment would actually piss me off.
"Have you given her the pill?" I asked, sitting on the mattress and sighing. I should have made sure she ate it. We definitely didn't want any pregnancy rumours before the mating ceremony. Also, she was too unready to bear pregnancy.
"I went to give it to her but she didn't open the door," Callum revealed, prompting a frown on my forehead.
I didn't respond any further and grabbed my dispersed clothes from the floor. After taking a shower and wearing clothes, I straight away went to her room and knocked. She didn't answer. I knocked again, this time a little harder. Again no response. I contemplated between turning around or barging in without consent. The latter felt suitable for the situation and so did I act on my impulse.
Faint sunlight falling in her room. Her clean-made bed, everything in-tact except for no signs of her. I scanned the place throughly, my feet instinctively taking me to her wardrobe. She used hide here whenever she was scared. Giving in to the unsettling thought, I opened the closet to find it empty of her. A sigh of relief escaped me but at the same time, I was left feeling rest. With a subtle frown on my face, I swivelled around and went to the kitchen. If not her room then the kitchen was the place where she was frequently found. My unannounced visit had thrown the butlers off guard. I rummaged through the place and failed to capture a glimpse of her. Disappointment rolled off of me in waves. Without saying a word, I turned to leave.
My wolf was not feeling good. Gunnolf kept grumbling to me about her behaviour, that something was wrong with her. Anxiety started to kick in as his words were turning a grave direction. I sprinted towards the main gate and asked the guards if they had seen her leaving. To which they replied negative. I tried to mind-link Katrina, she told me she was in the middle of a surgery. Panic was setting in my bones.
I closed my eyes and tried to connect with her. My intuition was taking me to a deserted place, more like a cave in the heaps of woods. I tried to mind-link with her.
"Princess? Are you okay?" Hoping she could hear and answer me. When she didn't, the hole in my heart kept increasing due to the fear of losing my only source of happiness. Desperately, I tried again.
"Where are you, Bella?" I pleaded, my tone was laced with vulnerability. And as if the Moon goddess answered my unspoken prayer, I heard her voice.
"Max?" She replied, her voice weak. My soul travelled back to my chest, I grinned out of relief.
"Where are you, baby?" I asked her, shit-scared about her being in danger. I already mind-link Callum to start a search for her as I was sure as day she wasn't home. Something was definitely wrong.
