Mirabel
It had been two hours since I hit the bed but not for a single second I could force myself to sleep. My body ached for rest but I was stuck in the loop of my own contemplations. Those greyish eyes. His eyes got oddly ingrained deep in my memory, the intensity of them ensnared my brain cells like a deadly cobra, every time I recalled them, they shuddered me, they made me wobbly. The way he looked at me, it was something I never experienced before. No, it wasn't lust. It was fire that could consume anyone as whole. Those eyes held a tornado that was intense to dominate my insides. At first, I was scared of them but as time kept going and I kept reminiscing about them, I was able to distinguish a whirlwind of emotions in them, starting with an inferno of madness that could burn to a promise of cool breeze that urged a force inside him to surrender itself for peace. He looked at me as if I meant something to him.
But I knew better than to give home to my delusions. It was nothing but a fantasy. I was drooling over a muscular, influential man who bestowed me with an ounce of attention. Just how desperate I was to sing fairytale hums around him due to my sexual frustration did mean I should give meaning to that damn interaction. The disappointment I had in me gripped me by my neck and I sat on my bed with my head in my hands. This blue-balling was giving me a hard time. I was forcing myself to stop thinking about him but the more I tried to unload him, the more I was getting communed by his thoughts. His face roamed before my eyes. His features were unique of their own. Warm brown hair, uplifted and structured cheeks, well-shaped eyebrows and a well-defined jaw with kissable medium lips. He was really an outstanding piece of God's creation towering at least above six feet.
"For God's sake, Mira, he could be in a relationship," I reminded myself out loud. This wasn't healthy to drool after a random man. Who was he by the way? A stranger? My boss? Was I supposed to indulge in a fancy about him? No, he should have been least in my head when I knew he was way out of my league.
But I couldn't help myself.

Before The Event
"Do you think it's a good idea?" I asked Katrina through the mirror while she helped me wear my suit-jacket.
"Of course, it is. An event will make Alabaster believe you are serious about finding a Luna this time. He will eventually go easy on you," She replied, which I found partially sensical. Hosting an event this year was least in my mind but considering the situation, I had to do it in order to remind my rivals about my position. I wasn't easy to be stepped over by just any spineless Alpha. I was leading a world's most influential pack and that alone had a reason why I was above them.
"What if you actually meet someone tonight?" Katrina initiated hesitantly. I looked at her.
"What do you mean?" I knew exactly what she meant to indicate but I was past that fool's paradise stage. I thrashed my ass for four years, how come could she pop up in an event such as this out of nowhere.
"I mean if you actually meet your ma..."
"We both know how true it could be. I'll be a fool to believe in a kid's fantasy, Kat, and don't ever ask such questions from me, they boil my blood," I gritted out of annoyance and directed my focus on my cufflinks. The bitterness in my chest increased each time I thought of her but subsequently my heart would claim there was a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Somewhere after visiting the kitchen and picking up that scent, I was, deep in my heart, believing that some miracle could just take place. I never knew. Maybe, just maybe this time it really could be a hit on the target.
I would find that out soon, but for now, I had to walk down the stairs of the hall and make an entrance with Kat's daughter.
Little Ivy was grinning while getting so much attention. Her oceanic blue eyes were oozing out so much excitement I felt a smile curving up on my lips. We reached the last step of the stairs and she was offered a hand to shake. She shot me a questioning glance and I nodded to encourage her. Eventually she took it and greeted the guest that was Luna from the Night Black Pack.
