IT HAD BEEN OVER FORTY HOURS since Saleah had entered the arena.
In the time she had been there, she'd lost an ally, gained some injuries, and angered the careers.
After Feather had patched Saleah's eye, the two had tried to go to sleep while Craig kept watch. Orna had sent an eye patch and some bandages for Saleah with an encouraging note that reminded her to not give up just yet.
Feather had taken the small note and showed Saleah how to make a mini origami swan. He gifted it to her and she slid it into her jacket pocket with Rue's flower for safe keeping.
The fallen were also displayed in the sky the first night, but the three tributes didn't dare leave the cave to see. They didn't want to relive losing Jessica, or killing three out of the four careers.
They had spent the second day in the cave, not daring to go out.
It was morning of the third day now and the three allies were coming up with a plan to find food.
"Does anyone know how to fish?" Craig asked.
Saleah and Feather shook their heads.
"I don't think they'll even have fish in the water, it's like halfway frozen." Saleah added.
Feather shook his head, "No, they have fish. Some can survive in cold waters, at least I think so."
Saleah huffed, thinking about what their next move should be. "Okay, then let's go. Craig, you're sure you saw water earlier, right?"
Craig nodded.
"Then lead the way."

The group walked for a good ten minutes before they reached a huge, half-frozen body of water. Just as Saleah had predicted, some parts of the lake were completely frozen, while others remained liquid.
Towards the right of the lake was a water fall, not frozen, but definitely freezing cold.
"Sooo, how are we gonna do this?" Feather asked.
Craig shrugged, "You could try using your spear?"
"He used that thing to kill people Craig." Saleah made a face of disgust.
"Well then wash it off first, but it's the best option."
Feather dipped the spear in the cold water, but it wasn't really that effective since the blood on the weapon had long ago dried.
The boy then started searching for fish.
"Found one!" He said straight away poking his spear into the water aggressively.
