Chapter 30 : When plans for the Future diverge

Adoras POV:

Yesterday I nearly got caught. As Catra walked in, I barely had time to slip her present between the couch cushions. As I woke up and saw her sleeping beside me, balled up into a comfortable position, her tail wrapped around my waist and purring happily.

"So Cute..." I thought while i resisted the urge to scratch her behind her Ears the way she liked it "First things first" I untangled her tail and snuck out to get to my improvised hiding spot behind the TV, where I hid the two gifts I had wrapped while she was at work

Today was Catras Birthday and with her mother still occupying a large chunk of her thoughts at the moment, she had managed to completely forget about it "Can't wait to see her Face when she wakes up" I thought as I got to work in the Kitchen

Catra was always a long sleeper, finding the warmth and comfort of the Bed far too mesmerizing to leave it for any reason other than the Toilet or Work. She told me yesterday that she was scheduled to work today, starting at 12 but I had called her Boss... I think, a Woman named Entrapta and asked for a day off, since it was her Birthday. She said "...sure?" and hung up so i guess that's all cleared up.

It took me about an hour to prepare all of Catras favorites: Tunasalat on toast, Pancakes with Canadian maple syrup, sunny side up eggs and a fresh cup of Coffee, the kind she once remarked tasted amazing from a small shop in town (From where I got the Beans).

"Now the question is, do I wake her up or wait until the smell pulls her out like a floating cartoon hand" I grinned to myself imagining it before walking up to our bedroom and finding her in much the same position. With all the shit she had to deal with right now, I wanted her to have one day where nothing would go wrong and were she could leave all her worries behind "Hey Catra" I whispered but only got an ear flick as an reaction "Heeeeey Caaaaatra" I went up as close as I could to her face and said it a bit louder this time. Now she stirred.

"Hmm...no COFFEE!" she shouted, hitting me right in the nose, causing me to stumble back and land on my ass

"Aaaauuu... Fucking damn it..." I checked my nose to find it, luckily, not bleeding

Now she raised her head and sat up "Adora?...oh shit" she suddenly realized what she had just done "Fuck, im sorry... I was still asleep"

"No, it's okay, it's okay... not the was I wanted to start this day but at least you're up now"

Catra stood beside me, helping me up while her Ears lay flat on her head and her Tail had nearly doubled in size "Why did you wake me anyway? I ain't got work until this afternoon?"

"You'll see... Do you trust me?" I asked, with a hardened look

"I... Do?"

"Good. Turn around" she did without question and only slightly twitched when I put the blindfold on her that I had bought just for today

"Uhh... kinky time so early in the morning? Im Game.."

"Shut it and follow me" I took her hand and, slowly, led her to the living room "You ready?"

"I'm not even sure for what but yeah?"

I took her blindfold off, revealing the opulent breakfast I made for her, 2 wrapped presents and a Card "Happy birthday, Catra" She just stood there, not reacting in any way "Catra?"

"I.. I completely forgot" she muttered, turning to me, wiping a few tiny tears from her eyes "Thank you, Adora... this looks amazing" her eyes suddenly shone like a polished Sapphire and Amber and her smile was just as blindingly gorgeous. Without warning she jumped in my Arms and kissed me, hugging me soon after "Ever since Mom... well you know, did what she did to me, only Scorpia ever celebrated my birthday" she stepped away from me "But... since she always did that, I had to force her to stop so she wouldn't waste her money on me so... urgh... what im trying to say here is that this means a lot to me and... thank you, Adora"
