Brooke, Carson and I were sitting out front waiting for our parents to come.

"Silver!" shouted Kyle.

Dad hugged me tight.

"Are you ok? Are you hurt?"

"I'm fine. I just need to go to the hospital."

"What happened?"

I just looked at Dad. I couldn't even speak. I finally found my voice and said 2 words.

"It's over."

I got up to check on Brooke. She got shot in the arm.

"Hey. You ok?"

"Yeah. I just hope to God I'll get away from all this."

"Shadows come with the pain that you're running from."

Brooke held my hand.

"I'll be there soon, ok?"

"Ok. And Silver?"

"Yeah?"

"Blaze would be proud."

I smiled. The ambulance took Brooke to the hospital. I was gonna check on Carson when I saw my reflection on a car window. I saw Blaze looking at me one last time. He was smiling. I smiled at him back.

"Goodbye, Blaze."

I whispered. Something I never got to say to Blaze. I never got to say goodbye. And now that I have, I hope he's at peace. I went to check on Carson and saw him sitting down on the edge.

"Hey, you ok?" Silver asked.

"Yeah. Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine."

I saw my mom, my dad, my uncles, and siblings walking towards us.

"Oh, baby!" Melody said.

"Mom, I'm fine."

"Where's Dragon?" Kyle asked.

"Dead."

"Oh."

"How's Brooke?" Austin asked.

"Fine. She's been taken to the hospital. Mom, am I gonna be alright?"

Mom took my hand.

"Every survivor will have nightmares. But all it takes is your friends and family to be there for you to finally move on."

"So, you're graduating next month." Andrew said.

"Yeah."

"Are you and Silver going to the same college?"

"No. I got a soccer scholarship at a college far from here."

"What about you, Silver?"

"I want to go to college for creative writing. I want to write stories that will change lives."

"How do you get in?" Melody asked.

"I got to write a book that changed someone's life."

"Do you know what you're gonna write?" Andrew asked.

"Definitely not about this. How about a man who changed his heart? He was selfish, cold-hearted, and didn't care about others. But all it took was his brother's friends to be in danger to change into a young hero."

"A book about Blaze." Carson said.

"I'll definitely read it." Austin said.

"Come on, let's go home." Andy said.

I heard a whisper in my ear.

"Goodbye, Silver."

I knew whose voice that was. Blaze. I'll miss you, you little shithead.
