The blonde confidently made her way over to Jerry as she stood tall, straightening out her posture. Noticing the girl, Jerry climbed down the loft, going towards her.
"Uh, hello?" Jerry blinked at Everly.
"Hello, I'm Everly Wilson."
He looked the girl up and down as he held a small rag in his hands, with a shy smile he shook Everlys hand.
"E-v-e-r-l-y," The boy began to sound out her name, "Is that how you say it?"
Everly giggled at his effort, "You may call me, Eve. If it's easier for you." She suggested the nickname.
He licked his lips, "Jerry Baynard." he said before looking around the barn, "Anne will be upset if she sees you talking to Mr. steal people's lives," Jerry threw mocking hands in the air.
"Well, surely Anne can manage sharing a friend?"
"It's the red head we're talking about..." Jerry thought to himself before smiling, "Eh, why would I care?"
Everly walked around the barn, looking at the large stacks of hay that took over the place.
"What brings you to green gables, anyways?" She heard Jerry loudly say and retraced her steps to find him in the same spot as before.
"Diana, Ruby, and I came to return Anne's belongings," Everly explained to the boy, "But I've heard a great deal about you and wanted to meet with the famous, jerry, who makes Anne upset."
He blushed, a red crimson color forming on his cheeks, "Why?" Jerry stuttered.
"Because why not?" She picked up a small amount of hay and threw it at Jerry, who effortlessly dodged it as a smile crept on his face, "Plus, I like making new friends. Don't you?"
Jerry eyes trailed to the floor before awkwardly meeting Everly's again, "Friends aren't really that easy to make," He quietly replied.
The blonde girl frowned before her feet dragged her towards Jerry and before she knew it, Everly tilted her head to the side so he could meet her gaze, "Nonsense. We've barely just met and we're friends."
He scoffed as Everly moved her head away, "I guess you're right, Eve." He said with his voice radiating confidence, "Somehow you're here. Although you might be a little..."
Crazy is what he wanted to say but decided to keep it to himself, liking the new friend he made.
The sun began to set, creating a layer of golden light spreading across the fields.
"Isn't it beautiful, Jerry?"
"Uh, what are you on about, now?" Jerry gave her a side eye, but followed her gaze, landing on the sunset. "Wow, now that you've mentioned it, the sky does look...very yellow." He blankly added.
