The Blythe home was quiet. There was a peaceful atmosphere as Everly stepped a foot into the place.

"Thank you, for letting us stay until we get the old hag back together."

She heard her father say to Mr. Blythe before snooping around the home with her eyes.

"You've been a buddy of mine, since I could remember. I'm glad to have the two of you as my guest."

Mr. Blythe patted Mr. Wilson on the shoulder and the two began to walk away, talking about how Mr.Wilson was going to put his house back together in no time.

"Like what you see?"

Everlys eyes trailed back to the front door and saw Gilbert taking off his hat and coat before hanging them on a rack.

"You have a lovely home," Everly complimented as she began to trail after her father.

Gilbert quickly caught up to the girl and grabbed her arm, forcing her legs to a stop.

"How are you feeling? Better, I hope?"

Everlys looked through her lashes before smiling, "Much better," She answered.

"Good," Gilbert said and dropped her arm, frowning a little. He briefly looked away from Everly, making her follow his gaze.

She raised a brow after a minute of silence, "Is there something bothering you, Gilbert?"

He tilted his head and said "No." Lying right through his teeth.

Everly gave him a knowingly look but he was too stubborn and did not want to explain himself, especially not to Everly.

"Uh huh," Everly muttered as she ran her tongue along her top row of teeth, "Sometimes, you're too stubborn for your own good."

"I don't know what you mean."

The blonde smirked as Gilbert continued to prove her right, "In denial as well." She muttered under her breath.

Gilbert scoffed as he took a step closer, "I am not in denial."

The girl did not even have to respond, knowing the silence would say more than she could.

The bickering back and forth continued to go on until Everly had enough of Gilbert and his determination to prove her wrong. Yet, it was doing the exact opposite.
