I watched his chest slowly rise and fall. It had been hours after and the room was as quiet as it had been before we walked in. He was looking at the roof and I was cuddled up as we were both wrapped in a sheet. He kept brushing my arm, but I could tell he was further if not deep in thought.

“I’m sorry…” I began.

“I’m so sorry that-”

“You know what I’m thinking about?”

My eyes snapped to him, and I could tell a defined frown in him that completely destroyed my train of thought.

“Why every time I think there’s no way I can love you as much as I do and then I just happen to. Like how much love can a person have before they explode.”

My stomach filled with something, then I started laughing before I laughed like I was out of my mind. He took the opportunity to look at me as I laughed and he smiled widely, like he was content with himself.

“I honestly need to know how much time I have left on this earth. I’m a ticking love bomb.”

I couldn’t stop cackling as he looked like he was in a bizarre moment. The door just threw open and both our eyes went to it.

“OH m- “

“MOM”

She quickly slammed the door shut and I looked at Isaac. The idea of his mom walking into the bedroom while we obviously look like we had a thing going on freaked me out.

“I need to go.” I said as I was trying to get out of bed, but he held my arm.

“It’s 9pm.”

“9?? “I exhaled looking for my phone.

“Lisa, I have to call Lisa.”

I quickly reached for it, but I couldn’t even call her after I saw those missed calls and messages.

“Take me home.” I panicked looking at Isaac.

“Hey hey hey breath, breath. I’ll get you home, but I can’t get you home in a body bag so please breath.”

I nodded as I tried to pull myself together, what was I even going to say? I hadn’t told her that I was going to Isaac’s house, I didn’t plan this until like 3 fucken hours of studying
.
I wore my school uniform as Isaac got dressed, instead of my school blazer he made me wear his hoodie and we went straight to the door and to his car with my entire head covered. He knew I found refuge in hoodie’s and indeed I was hidden in his like a little turtle.

When his car stopped in front of the house, I quickly got off and began to walk but I turned back around and peeked into the car taking the hoodie hat off. I gave him a soft kiss and rushed off to the house as he watched me.

I opened the front door, and I heard the television play, as soon as she came into sight, I didn’t wait for her to say a word.

“I’m so sorry, I forgot to text.”

She looked at Frank who looked back at her.

“I’m really sorry, I was with Isaac, and we studied.”

“You never forgot to text though, so what were you both doing at 9 in the middle of the night?”

I moved back and bit my upper lip. She was awfully calm as she asked, it made me uneasy that she was calm. She sounded like she was plainly disappointed in me.

“I was extremely worried about you, and I know you’re dating him.”

“We’re not- “

“The sex better be safe Less”

She walked to the couch, and she mumbled something to Frank, who gave me a glance then looked back at her. I went upstairs and took a shower; I got into comfortable clothes and went straight to bed. The sex wasn’t something that worried me, we were safe about it but the idea that Lisa was upset rendered me uneasy. A knock followed an hour later, and she came in turning the lights on.

“I get worried about you Less, and I don’t really care if you have a boyfriend or if you’re sleeping with him. We knew it would get there at some point-“

“Lisa I’m sorry”

“I know you are, and it’s fine but I don’t want you missing any of my calls anymore. If I call and you miss it at least call me back or do something just let me know that you’re okay. You know not everything has been rosy, and I still get scared and worried about you. “

Then she exhaled.

“Got it?”

I nodded.

“Got it.”

She made a soft smile and switched the lights off closing the door behind her, the door I once locked so much like the big bad wolf would come in. I switched the side lamp off and went to sleep with relief.
