Over the years, she had often wished for Blade to disappear from her life, but like clockwork, he reappeared annually, a stark reminder that she could never truly escape him. In addition to her torment, Blade rarely confronted her directly. Instead, she felt his gaze from the shadows, his piercing red eyes haunting her in the dead of night.

Any other person would have screamed and fled, but knowing him only fueled her disdain as she locked eyes with the crimson orbs that seemed to glow with a sinister light.

Their deal was finally over, and she was free again. The thought of reuniting with her family in just over 200 years filled her with bittersweet joy. Throughout all this time, the family she'd left behind in another era was what she missed most, aside from the family that was cruelly taken from her.

The autumn wind whipped around her, cold and biting, but the sight of the church before her truly sent shivers down her spine. She hadn't set foot in one since she made her pact with Blade.

With a deep breath, she summoned the courage to step inside. Unlike the dramatic depictions in TV shows and books, she felt no burning sensation upon entry. The feeling was unsettling, but not unwelcome.

The church was silent and empty of congregants. She quietly moved to the second row, near the altar, and sat down. Now what? she wondered. Could she pray to God again, hoping for forgiveness for turning her back on Him and making a deal with the devil?

Would God even love her? How could he love someone the devil himself adored and even claimed to be in love with? The thought made her scoff. She was doomed—destined for hell, one way or another.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone approaching. Turning, she recognized the pastor of the church.

"Hello, my child. The service ended two hours ago; I'm afraid you missed it. But there will be another one tomorrow at 6 p.m.," he said softly.

"Thank you; good to know," Celine replied half-heartedly, turning her gaze back to the altar. But the pastor didn't leave.

"I can see something is truly bothering you. Would you like to talk about it?" the older man offered.

Without looking at him, she stared ahead and asked, "What sins is God willing to forgive? They say he forgives even the greatest of sins, yet surely there must be one he wouldn't."

"And what sin would that be?" the pastor inquired.

"What if I told you I wasn't from this timeline? I once lived in the 21st century and was naive enough to make a deal with the devil to time travel and live an immortal life. And in the end, I made the devil himself fall in love with me, so our deal ended, setting me free."

The pastor was silent for a moment, weighing whether to believe her incredible story or dismiss her as delusional.

"My child, no sin is too great for God's boundless mercy. If you truly repent and turn your heart back to the Lord, he will forgive you. Your past dealings, even with the devil, can be washed away by sincere repentance and faith in Jesus Christ." His voice was sincere, without a hint of condescension.

"But, my child, you need to know something." At this, Celine turned to him again. "You will go to heaven, and he knows it. That's why he won't let you go. The Lord loves you, just like all his children. It is up to you to decide the path you follow."

Confused by his words, Celine asked, "What makes you say that? Shouldn't you be encouraging me to go to church more often and seek redemption? And most importantly, who do you mean by 'he'?"
