Not only was learning new languages tough and difficult, but it was also draining. Numerous tribes had their own languages over the decades she had lived in Italy, and many of them had even developed rapidly.
When speaking with others became difficult, she occasionally called for Blade. He was first hesitant to give her knowledge of the tribe's language, and he spoke to them directly to assist her resolve issues. Other times he gave in, and gave her the ability to not only understand the language but also the culture.
Blade had been coming throughout these centuries on a regular basis; once it even seemed like being taken back to that time in the Antarctic; other times, it felt like he was her worst enemy. She despised him with all of her being, and he despised her for causing him to change. At first he didn't want to realize it, since it was a slow process, but he understood how serious it was the moment he had what he wanted from her. Her soul.
That day in Egypt, when she had yielded to one of his servants, he had not felt triumphant; rather, he was troubled. He didn't want to watch her lifeless body, her lost spirit being tortured, and ultimately being consumed by him or one of his kind. Disregarding these ideas, he failed to see what he was doing until it was too late.
While he enjoyed the sound of skinning damned souls alive and hearing their terrified screams, Celine's sob at nearly losing her life sent a shudder down his spine. He was so sick of this feeling that he was unable to focus. He had never felt or cared for a single one of his cursed and foolish souls, but he had also never had a feeling of being a part of their last moments, as if he were the one going to die at the hands of his slaves.
After then, his mind was just a hazy mist. He had been enjoying tormenting human souls in hell, and now he was in Egypt, directly behind the demon who was about to steal her soul. Even his servant failed to notice his presence before being taken back to hell. Blade understood that as long as he lived, he was to be the one permitted to take her soul.
"My king, what are you doing?" The servant spat out. Blade was on top of the servant, watching as all of his energy was sucked out of him, exactly as this demon would have done to Celine if Blade hadn't intervened. "Stop!" Before disappearing into thin air, the monster let forth an almost unbearable high-pitched shriek.
When it was over, he got to his feet while maintaining his trance. He slowly realized that, in exchange for a girl who had sold her soul to him and understood what she was getting into, he had slain one of his longest and most devoted companions.

Celine's life was monotonous. Hoping to encounter any of the historical occurrences she had read about, she was aimlessly wandering around. She was slowly dying within from falling in love and being treated like a worthless object by every man she allowed into her life.
Even when she told herself not to fall in love with someone and simply go along with it, knowing in the back of her mind that it wouldn't last, the second they left, or forget her existence, and move on so quickly, caused her heart break into a million pieces each time.
The fact that Blade always returned was the one thing that gave her some comfort. He was correct—he was the one who understood her the best and the one who helped her temporarily forget about her issues before they resurfaced.
She began to lose faith in love at this time because all guys were the same, with some being worse than others.
Traveling and immersing herself in nature and history was the only way she could stay sane these days. A feeling of freedom and true happiness was something she hadn't experienced in a long time.
