In modern-day Shanghai, the city's skyline is not the only thing that touches the heavens. Hidden among the skyscrapers and bustling streets are beings from different realms and timelines, each with their own fate interwoven by destiny.
A man with short chestnut hair walked out of the bus, hand-in-hand with another–a taller individual with slightly longer black hair, bangs cut to specifically cover his right eye. The man turned towards the taller one, a smile on his face, showcasing small dimples near his cheeks. "Just one more bus, San Lang. It won't be long."
The latter nodded with a sincere smile on his face. "As long as I'm with Gege, anything's okay."
Xie Lian smiled, his grip on Hua Cheng's hand a bit tighter as they walked towards the bus station. Suddenly, Xie Lian spotted an ice-cream stand and smiled, "San Lang, would you like to get some ice-cream? We can share!"
Hua Cheng smiled lovingly, "Anything Gege wants."
The pair began to walk down the street towards the ice-cream parlor as they walked, Xie Lian noticed that Hua Cheng was sweating more than usual. "It's hot today, isn't it?"
Hua Cheng nodded with a small smile, "It's alright.". Hua Cheng took Xie Lian's hands in his own and gently wiped away a bead of sweat from Xie Lian's forehead. "We'll cool down with the ice-cream," Hua Cheng said reassuringly.
As they approached the ice-cream stand, Xie Lian scanned the menu eagerly. "What flavor do you want, San Lang?"
Hua Cheng glanced at the menu briefly before responding, "How about we try something new? Maybe the mango and coconut?"
Xie Lian's eyes lit up. "That sounds delicious!" He turned to the vendor and ordered a scoop of each flavor in a large cup with two spoons.
They took their ice-cream and found a small bench under a tree nearby. Xie Lian handed one of the spoons to Hua Cheng, who accepted it with a smile. They started eating, enjoying the cool treat in the shade.
"Do you remember the first time we had ice-cream together?" Xie Lian asked, his eyes sparkling with nostalgia.
Hua Cheng chuckled softly. "Of course, Gege. It was at that little festival in Yong'an. You were so excited to try all the different flavors."
Xie Lian laughed, a sweet, melodic sound that made Hua Cheng's heart swell with affection. "Yes, and you ended up eating most of mine because I couldn't decide which one I liked best."
Hua Cheng smiled fondly. "I'd do it all over again just to see you happy."
As they shared their ice-cream, the sun began to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the city. The two of them sat close, their shoulders touching, enjoying the simple pleasure of each other's company.
