It has been a week since Christmas and there hadn't been a night that passed that I wasn't with Steve in his bed. It wasn't all sex it was just us being together and loving the time together.
We were lying in bed this morning, it was New Year's Eve, and we were spending it together. Danny had Grace and offered to come over, but Steve and I wanted to be alone. We decided even though we had been living together we didn't know much about each other, so we were learning things.
"So, I have to ask you about your necklace." Steve said.
"What about it?" I sighed.
"I know you said it's from your dad, but when did you get it?" Steve asked and I sighed.
"He gave it to me for Christmas. With it just being me and him I knew it was something we couldn't really afford but he wanted to get it for me, I was 10. It was the best gift I had ever gotten. Then a week after Christmas..." I trailed off catching the tears that were threatening to fall. Steve placed a hand under my chin wanting me to look up at him. He gave me a gentle kiss.
"You don't have to continue."
I shook my head, "I want to..." I took a deep breath, "About a week after Christmas, I went to wake him up and he didn't wake up. He had a stroke in his sleep, and he was gone." I explained.
Steve held me a little tighter. I realized then we had something in common, we both didn't have parents in our lives.
"So, what happened after?" Steve asked.
"Well, I was a kid I mean I knew to call 911 and then I called my aunt who lived 5 minutes away. She rushed over and her and my uncle took me in and that's where I stayed until I turned 18 and met Mary." I smiled up at Steve during the last part.
"So, what do you think you'll be doing when you go back?" Steve asked.
"Well, we will go to the cemetery, take flowers and just say what's been going on for a year." I said.
"You sure you're okay to go alone? I could try and get time off..."
"Steve that's sweet but I plan on seeing Mary on this trip too. You think that wise, you go with me and we explain us together?" I asked and Steve chuckled.
"Yeah, not yet. I like it being just us." Steve said and I nodded. He leaned down and passionately kissed me.
"I want you to know Steve I don't know much about what happened to your parents and I won't pretend that I do but if you ever want to talk about it, I'm here." I said and he smiled kissing me again.
He rolled me to my back and continued to passionately kiss me. I knew he was trying to change the subject as he hovered over me, and we continued to make out. I was clearly okay with this change of subject. As Steve's lips moved to my neck, I bucked my hips up to his as he was grinded into me.
"Fuck..." Steve growled against my neck.
I reached down and started to push down his boxers. As they were almost off his cellphone on his table rang.
"Shit!" Steve grumbled along with a few other choice words. I watched Steve grab his phone. "McGarrett." He answered. I sighed, looking at the ceiling trying to catch my breath. Things were getting hot and heavy and then life stepped in, Five-0 calls happened.
Steve set his phone down and turned to look at me.
"You have to work, don't you?" I asked.
"Yeah, that was Duke, he said that they need help with crowd control actually. People already getting rowdy on the beach and stuff." Steve said and I half nodded.
