32 - Worth It

It had been a few weeks since I was shot, and I was ready to go back to work. It was going to be tough since my arm was still in the sling sometimes, only when it bugged me and I was walking with a limp but walking on my own, nonetheless.

I was spending my final morning at Rachel's. I would be going home with Steve tonight after work and everything would be getting back to normal.

I walked out of my room to find Grace and Rachel standing there. Grace looked really sad and I walked up to her.

"Why the long face?" I asked as she held marshmallow.

"You're leaving me. I don't want you to go." Grace started crying and I pulled her into a hug.

"Hey, it's okay. We will still hang out all the time and be together. I promise." I said and kissed her cheek. Steve walked out of the room after grabbing my bags and headed to the truck.

"Time for work, let's go." Steve said and I looked at him oddly as we walked outside.

"You're taking me?" I asked.

"That would be me sista!" Kamekona said. I smiled as I walked over and hugged him.

"I like this ride." I said then look at Steve as he and Danny went to get into the truck.

"Be safe." Steve said and I nodded as I got in the car and we headed to work.

I was silent on the drive to work just thinking about everything I had been through and how no one had heard from my stalker since I got shot.

"You okay sista?" Kamekona asked and I nodded.

"Yeah just nervous." I said smiling at him.

"Everything will be fine. You got this." He said and I nodded.

We continued to work and he pulled up outside and I sighed. I got out of his car.

"You picking me up too?" I asked and he nodded.

"I will be here tonight to take you home." He said and I nodded. I smiled at him and walked into work.

As I got to the locker room in the back to put my stuff away I started to feel like I was being watched. I looked around and didn't see anyone but I just chalked it up to first day back jitters.

"Cali! So good to have you back!" A co-worker Trina said walking up to me and hugging me.

"It's good to be back." I said as we headed to the time clock and we clocked in. Then we proceeded to walk to the front desk.

Time to start my day...get my life back...

**STEVE POV**

I walked into headquarters and saw Chin and Grover already looking at the big screen.

"Something I should see?" I asked.

"We are just watching Cali, she just clocked into work. We have gotten in to someone the security cameras as well." Grover said and I sighed.

"Spying on her is the way to go?" Danny asked and Chin nodded.

"Her stalker might show up since she is back. We are watching cameras and time clocks." Grover said.

"Did anyone tell her she was being used as bait?" Danny asked and we all stayed silent. "Seriously?!"

"It's not really being used like bait, she wanted to go back to work. I couldn't stop her but now we just watch." I said.

We all watched, we had nothing else to do and I had to make sure my girl was safe. She was sitting on a stool behind her computer at the front desk and she was back to her happy self helping customers.
