𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 - 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 she rejected to go out with the girls, Areum was spammed with photos and messages in the group chat Sooah had created. She had already regretted becoming friends with three extroverts but decided not to dwell on it much.

She followed Jugyeong on Instagram before sleeping and now was the time for her second ever day of school. She once again got dressed, grabbed her bag and headphones and was on her way. She could get used to this routine quite quickly.

Sadly her time with her headphones was interrupted by Sooah and her boyfriend "Areum-ah! Come with us!" she was practically dragged to walk with the couple "Wouldn't you guys prefer if I gave you some alone time?" they shook their heads.

"I just wanted you and Taehoon to meet. Every friend of mine is a friend of his." Somehow the word friend coming from her mouth sounded foreign to Areum. She started wondering if the years of isolation had done something to her brain.

Because every way she thought, the word friend just did not sit right with her. She had not had once sincere friend in the past three years. Hell even Alice was just a lunch buddy to her, so why was this girl who she met only yesterday considering her a friend already.

Areum blinked to get out of her mindset like her mother had told her and stepped into the classroom "Well nice to meet you I guess." the guy smiled at her "I see you're more reserved." he commented and she sat down at her spot.

The whole first period was spent in her thoughts going once again over the fact that Sooah so easily called her again. She just could not wrap her head around the fact it was so easy for someone to give their trust.

Friendships are built upon years of knowing someone and trusting them. The two girls only met yesterday, out of the whole 'friend group' as Sooah called it she only knew Soojin. And she only knew her on the surface level.

So either something was wrong with her or with them. She just could not decide who was in the wrong. And so as the lunch period came quickly she sat down with the three girls and Sooah's boyfriend to eat. She planned to finish her meal quickly but Soojin stopped her.

"I'm sorry if Sooah's being a bit overbearing. That's just her personality." Areum nodded with her mouth full "She's very quick to make friends." Now that stumped Areum "How?" she asked as she was confused.

Soojin looked at her "What do you mean how?" Areum clarified "How can you think of someone as a friend so quickly? We just met yesterday." Soojin only looked at her before answering "I guess that's just how it goes."

"I don't have the answer you want, but trust me she has no bad intentions." with that Soojin stood up and Areum finished her meal quickly. "Areum! Jugyeong! Let's take a photo together!" Sooah called out and Areum complied.

They took the picture and the short girl sent it to the group chat right away. "You two mind if I post it?" Areum shook her head while Jugyeong verbally answered "No, no problem Sooah." Her behavior caught Areums' eye.

It seemed like she tried too hard to fit in, or too not offend someone. Her body also gave away signs of her being nervous or scared of something. And Areum could not help but wonder why was she trying so damn hard to fit in with everyone.

"You can post it. I'm going back to the classroom." Areum said as she stood up and Sooah beamed at her "I'll tag all of you!" Areum only nodded before going back to the clasroom where she found her desk mate looking out of the window.

She took her seat next to him "Have you eaten?" she asked and was given no answer. She once again huffed but decided that she did not deserve such treatment. "Look if you're going to be an asshole be one, I don't care. But I do not deserve this treatment."

He turned to look at her but said nothing "If you want to be silent and lose what small friendship I though we had go ahead. Not like you give a shit." she put her headphones on as the boy stared at her. But she turned her back to him, fed up with his behavior.

The rest of the classes were a mix of listening to the teacher and Sooah's ramblings in the pauses as she rambled on and on about some kpop group. The second she heard the word kpop leaving her mouth Areum decided she did not want any part in the conversation.

"Who do you listen to Areum?" Jugyeong asked her and the other girl looked out of the window "Some foreign artist. Don't know if you know them." she answered and Sooah jumped in "How can you not listen to kpop. The group No-Time is having their comeback soon."

Areum gritted her teeth at the mention of her brothers old group. "Oh is that the one where one of the member died?" asked Jugyeong and Sooah nodded "Yeah Jeong Seyeon, three years ago." Soojin sensing this conversation was uncomfortable changed the topic. "Can we please talk about something more cheerful."

The boy band obsessed girl huffed "You never let me have my fun Soojin." the other transfer smiled at the two while Areum watched waiting for the last bell. Once it rang she sprung up and wanted to be the first to go home.

"Areum wait for us!" Jugyeong called out and Areum stopped "Let's all go home together!" she announced as the other two walked up to them. "I have other obligations, sorry girls." she walked away first and left the three girls stumped. "Wonder what obligations she has." Sooah said.

Little did they know that the so called obligation was her visiting her mother. The surgery was just a few days away and she wanted to spend every moment available with her. Because who knew how long she would be asleep and unavailable to her after the surgery with it being a brain surgery after all.
