𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 practically flew as Areum constantly looked over her watch. The very same one her grandparents had given her when she turned sixteen. She was very impatient about the going to the hospital.

It had gotten to the point where her friend group noticed how fidgety she became and questioned her. "Is something wrong Areum?" Sooah asked quietly and the older girl shook her head "No, nothing. I just have something I cannot miss after school."

"You want us to come if it's making you this anxious?" Jugyeong asked as she picked her backpack and Areum shook her head "It's a family matter. Plus I do not want to bother you guys when you probably have your own stuff after school."

And with those words she was out of the door, practically running to the hospital. Her mothers surgery had been finished about an hour, she was not set to wake up any time soon. But Areum wanted to go see her, and check if everything had gone as it should have.

As she stepped inside she passed the nurses who by now knew her name and face and headed straight towards her mothers room. When she found it she stopped before coming in to catch her breath. That's when doctor Kang found her.

"Miss Areum, hello to you too." he said with a smile and the younger girl bowed to him "Doctor Kang, hello. I'm here to see if everything went as planned." the older man nodded and pointed to his office. "Let's talk in there to not disturb your mother."

Areum nodded and followed the man inside his office. They both sat down and he picked up some papers from his drawer. "The surgery went without any problems. I oversaw the surgery myself. Doctor Choi did everything she should have and it was over in about two hours."

"I checked the stitches myself, and it was all done perfectly. She should be awake tomorrow but I cannot make any promises." he stopped and showed her a paper "I can tell you she is stable and all her labs are good."

He then smiled at Areum "I am very pleased to say that the cancer has been taken care of." Areum smiled back at the man "Thank you Doctor Kang, so when can she be discharged?"

"She will have to stay so we could monitor her condition, but I say maximum of about ten days." Areum nodded "Anything else I need to know once she comes home?" the doctor chuckled "You know your mother should be happy to have a daughter like you. Not a lot of family members care as much."

Areum nodded at the compliment and thanked him "About any medications I will tell you once she wakes up. I cannot tell you in advance because we don't know how her condition will be." she nodded once again.

"If you have any more questions, my doors are open anytime. But I do have other patients now." Areum nodded and stood up out of her chair. She stepped out of the room and headed to her mothers room when another voice called her "Unnie!"

She turned around and was met with a grown up version of Gowoon, she smiled as she went in for a hug. "Gowoon-ah! I haven't seen you in so long." the two girls hugged each other in the middle of the hallway and Areum was the first to let go.

"Why are you here Gowoon?" Areum asked before remembering Mihyang. "Me and Seojun came to see our mom. But unnie what are you doing here? Didn't you move to America?" the girl asked and Areum chuckled.

She ruffled her head "I was in America but now I'm here for good." Gowoon smiled "Really?" Areum nodded and Gowoon hugged her again. "Let's hang out sometime unnie!" she said and Areum agreed.

Then behind Gowoon, her mother and brother popped up. "Gowoon I told you not to run off like that!" Seojun criticized before he spotted Areum. He then seemed shocked "What are you doing here?"

Areum ignored his question and turned to greet his mother "Mihyang, good to see you." the older woman smiled at Areum and greeted her as well. "You're as polite as ever Areum. How's your mother?"

The Han siblings seemed to be forgotten by Areum and their mother as the two started conversing about Areums' mothers surgery. The two just listened in and Seojun tried hard to follow everything through even if it seemed like a stupid little detail.

"I'm actually on my way to see her. The surgery went well, she should be out in about ten days." Mihyang smiled as she patted Areum "That's nice to hear. Come visit us once I'm out of the hospital my dear."

Areum smiled and nodded, seemingly forgetting the two sibling who stood next to them. "C'mon kids let's not overwhelm her." Seojun seemed like he wanted to stay but obliged to his mothers wishes. "I'll text you unnie."

The older girl chuckled at Gowoon's excitement and nodded. Once the Han family was out of her eyesight she finally stepped into her mothers hospital room and sat next to her. Her mother was deep asleep with a big stich on one side of her head.

Areum grabbed her hand and leaned on the wall as she looked at her mother. She was glad the hardest part was over with, and that her mother could only go up from this moment on. But mostly she was glad that her mother was given another shot at life.

She stayed in the hospital until the visiting hours ended and she headed home with her headphones on. But just as she was about to walk inside her phone rang and she got annoyed just by the callers ID, somehow it was Suho. "Yes Suho."

The boy was quiet for a second before he spoke up "Could you meet me in five?" he asked and Areum groaned "I honestly don't know why I'm giving you a shot but yes. Be in front of my house in five." she then hung up and went inside to change out of her school uniform.

After exactly five minutes her doorbell rang and she went outside to see Suho there. "So why did you call me?" she asked as they walked down to the park. "I wanted to apologize for my behavior this whole week. You don't deserve it at all."

She only listened on as he continued "It's just every time I see you, I see him." he said and his eyes got glossy. "And then I remember I did nothing for him. It kills me inside every time I see you Areum." he said and the girl nodded.

"You should've told me earlier. I would've understood. He is my brother after all." the boy nodded but didn't dare to look into her eyes. "If you need time I understand. But I do not deserve that treatment." he once again nodded and that was the end of their conversation as he headed home straight after with glossy eyes.
