The Summer I Turned Pretty

LEMON FOUND HERSELF BEING WOKEN UP by her twin; truth be told she is a light sleeper so she couldn't necessarily be mad, "Bells?"

Belly looked behind her shoulder to look at her sister, "Go back to sleep, LemLem."

"No." Lemon stubbornly said, earning an eye roll from her sister.

"What are you doing?" Lemon asked curiously, sitting up as she leaned forward to look over her sister's shoulder.

Belly paused as she looked at her sister, "Are we doing this?" She then picked up the debutante letter, showing Lemon what she meant.

"Do you want to do it?" Lemon questioned, raising a brow.

"Yes."

"Then I'll do it."

"You don't have to, Lemon." Belly gave her a look, feeling bad that she always makes her sister do whatever she wants.

"Doesn't matter if I want to or not, if you're doing it, I'm doing it." Lemon shrugged as she gave her sister a peck to her temple, rolling off the bed, a loud groan leaving her mouth as she stretched. "My back!"

Belly shook her head as she smiled to herself, looking back down at her debutante letter and grabbing at her sisters' own, putting a check mark on both papers.

"Um, I have to go, but I'll be back, okay?" Belly told her sister as she stood up from their bed, grabbing the two letters into her grasp.

Lemon eyed her twin, "Off to see Cam Cameron, I presume?" She teased.

"Shut up." Belly rolled her eyes.

A smug smile grew on Lemon's face, "I love you."

"And I love you, too." And then Belly walked out of their bedroom, "Don't tell mom!"

Lemon stayed staring at the doorway of their bedroom as she let out a quite sigh, shaking her head as her eyes stopped at Atlas's hoodie he'd let her keep.

"So last night wasn't a dream." Lemon smiled to herself as she pulled the hoodie over her head.

Lemon soon found herself walking to the beach, feeling a need for some fresh ocean air and to also avoid any and all contact with her mother.

What she didn't expect to see - or, who she hadn't expected to see was Conrad. Also the last person she wanted to see this morning.

"CC." Lemon softy greeted, smiling at the boy as she sat herself next to him, leaving a bit of space between them. Conrad stayed silent as his eyes watched Lemon.

"Last night was definitely the worse night of my life." Lemon breathed out, trying to make conversation with the boy. It was weird to her, how difficult it was to talk with him.

She was always a blabber mouth with Conrad but this summer was different. It's like they didn't have anything to talk about with one another.

Conrad's eyes were back on Lemon, "Your nose looks fucked up."

Lemon paused as she let out a quite offended scoff, "Yeah, I know, Conrad. I kind of had to see it in the mirror."
