The Summer I Turned Pretty

THE FOUR WOMEN continued to walk and shop around town, Susannah stopping at every shop she set her eyes on. Much to Laurel's displeasure.

"Isn't that pretty?" Susannah asked as she brought up a short silk dress to Lemon's body, both moms and Belly assessing the dress.

"I like that." Laurel nodded in approval.

"That's pretty." Belly complimented.

The twins continued to try on more clothes, messing around with each other along the way.

This was a nice sisterly and mother-daughter bonding.

"I don't wanna match." Lemon pouted as Susannah brought up a two piece set to her body and Laurel doing the same with Belly.

"But you two look so cute when you match." Susannah gushed, her eyes lighting up.

Belly and Lemon both glanced at one another, shaking their heads in disapproval.

Eventually, the four soon made their way to another shop, one that Susannah had suggested herself.

"Okay, they're called Fascinators." Susannah explained, "And all the girls will be wearing them."

"Seriously?" Laurel questioned as they stared at the display case, showcasing all the wonky hats.

"Seriously." Susannah nodded, letting out a small laugh.

"I don't know about this." Belly said, an uneasy look on her face.

"These hats scare me." Lemon stared intensely at one of the hats, already regretting agreeing to become a debutante.

"Come on!" Susannah quickly ushered the three girls as she eagerly entered the shop.

THE TWO MOMS found themselves sat on comfy seats as they waited for the twins to come out of their dressing rooms.

Belly had came out first, a big smile on her face as she twirled.

She instantly got disapproval from both moms.

Then Lemon came out, her face already showcasing her dislike for the dress.

"No." She quickly shook her head.

"No?" Susannah questioned, "I like this one."

"Mm-mm." Lemon once again denied the dress, turning around and going back into her dressing room.

The twins this time both came out together and instantly Susannah said no to the dresses, shaking her head as she sat back down. Laurel watched her best friend before looking back at her daughters who both looked equally tired and fed up.

"Okay, you girls ready?" Susannah asked.

"Yeah." The girls both said as they then stepped out, both wearing fluffy dresses, though Lemon's dress had an odd cut to the bottom half of the dress.
