The Summer I Turned Pretty

"I CAN'T BELIEVE we're going on a double date." Belly said as she looked at herself in the mirror, doing a once over look of her outfit.

"I can't believe we actually have boyfriends." Lemon scoffed to herself as she tried to concentrate on putting on mascara, "Ouch."

"Sue!" Lemon called out to Susannah, "Help!"

"I'm coming, Hon." Susannah chuckled to herself as she made her way to the struggling girl. "Look up for me."

"Oh, you're both going on a double date and with cute boys!" Susannah gushed, smiling so big her cheekbones looked like they were going to pop out.

"Yes, and with cute boys." Lemon smiled as she slightly shook her head.

"Done." Susannah said, "You both look so cute, you're gonna have so much fun tonight." She promised as her eyes looked over the twins.

"We're just going to see a movie." Belly told Susannah, shrugging.

"You girls look nice." Laurel complimented as she walked into Susannah's room, smiling as she did a once over look of her twins.

"I can't believe crop tops are back." Susannah told Laurel as she put her heels on, "Remember how I thought I was such hot shit in that baby tee I wore freshman year?"

Laurel smiled in remembrance.

"Here you go." Lemon handed the older blonde woman's lipstick back.

Susannah smiled up at the twins, "Have fun tonight, girls."

"Oh? Are you not driving with us?" Laurel questioned, brows narrowed.

Belly and Lemon both looked at one another for help before then quickly looking at Susannah, sending the woman a pleading look.

"Oh, didn't the girls tell you?" Susannah questioned as she stood up, "They have a date. And it's a double one at that, Laur." She gave her best friend a teasing smile.

"Oh, I remember when we used to have double dates." Susannah let out a dreamy sigh.

Laurel dismissed all of Susannah's rambles as she looked at the twins, a befuddled look on her face. Her twins weren't only not going to Whales Of A Tail with her but they didn't even tell her they were going on dates? Let alone we're they ever talking to boys?

This just didn't seem all like her girls, Laurel thought once again.

Lemon's eyes glanced around the room before drifting back to her mother, "We're sorry we didn't tell you, ma. We just didn't know how you'd react." She gave a sorry look.

Laurel blinked two or three times before she then came out of her stupor, a fake smile forcing its way onto her face as she tried to look like a supportive mother - even though she was hurt, she had to be supportive.

"His name is Cam." Belly told her mom, smiling fondly.

"And my date's name is Atlas, he's ironically best friends with Cameron." Lemon added in, biting at her bottom lip as to contain her excitement.
