The Summer I Turned Pretty

DINNER HAD SOON COME AROUND as night fell, everyone who sat at the family table was enjoying their time - some more than others.

"Is it good?" Lemon asked as she glanced at Atlas, who sat at her left side, placing a piece of the lobster claw in her mouth to bite at - the juices spilling down her chin.

"Amazing." Atlas replied as he snickered, grabbing at his napkin to wipe at the girls chin which Susannah watched the whole thing play out, a small smile on her face but surprisingly didn't reach her eyes.

"Thank you!" Lemon said through a mouth full of stuffed lobster meat, she should care about how she's presenting herself in front of her boyfriend but if he can't like her at her ugliest, he might as well be gone by now.

"So, Cam." Jeremiah caught the curly haired boy's attention, "Mind if call you Cam Cameron?"

Cameron chuckled as he nodded, "Mhm, yeah. Feel free, man."

"Cool." Jeremiah mumbled as he nodded, a smug look on his face - his eyes drifting to look at Lemon who sat in front of him and Belly who sat at her right side, both birthday girls giving him a warning look, which he innocently shrugged off as he drank his iced tea.

"I'm glad you boys are here." Susannah said with gratefulness, "I know your mom Denise from the club and Atlas, your mom and I go way back in our modeling days." She smiled, "And I've heard a lot about you."

"Thank you for having us, Susannah." Atlas smiled.

"My mom says hi." Cameron told the blonde woman as Susannah nods in response.

"Uh, Cam, Atlas, you guys ever had Miyeok-Guk before?" Laurel asked as she passes the two bowls of soup, "It's a Korean birthday tradition." She informed.

"Lemon actually loves this, she'll eat it day, evening, night." Laurel slightly teased, "So, keep this in mind, Atlas." She chuckled a bit.

"Oh, I definitely will." Atlas immediately nodded as he held back a snicker, glancing at his girlfriend who playfully rolled her eyes, going back to scarfing down her lobster and soup.

"This looks so good." Cameron complemented, "Thank you."

"The twins actually told me that both of you are vegetarians so I didn't put any meat in it." Laurel informed.

"Thank you, Laurel." Cameron smiled as he thanked the woman once more.

"That is very sweet of you, thank you." Atlas sent a grateful smile at the woman.

"Why don't you eat meat, Cam Cameron, Super Model?" Jeremiah asked, lips twitching upwards.

Lemon narrowed her brows at Atlas's nickname.

"Uh, well, the meat industry is the number one contributor to global warming." Cameron answered easily as he then cleared his throat, "And I just- I like animals."

Laurel smiled fondly at the boy.

"I'm, uh, a model so it was just best for me to become a vegetarian as it gives me a healthier meal plan." Atlas explained.
