After some time, Heeseung found himself standing in the kitchen, leaning against the table as he tried to reason with Sunghoon.
The air was thick with tension, the silence between them growing more uncomfortable by the minute.
Sunghoon stood across from him, arms crossed, his expression a mix of stubbornness and desperation.
"Sunghoon."
Heeseung began.
"You have to understand. I can't just stay here. People will notice if I'm gone."Sunghoon's eyes narrowed slightly, his posture stiffening.
"I know."Heeseung sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
"Sunghoon! That's all you can say?"Sunghoon took a step closer, his eyes pleading.
"Can't you just stay a little longer? Please, Heeseung. I need you."Heeseung felt his patience wearing thin.
He wasn't scared of Sunghoon, and in a strange way, he didn't hate being with him.
But he had his own life, and he couldn't ignore that.
"Sunghoon, I can't stay here forever. You know that. You're acting like a kid."Sunghoon's jaw tightened, his gaze unwavering.
"I don't care. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe, to keep you with me."Heeseung's exasperation grew.
"Safe from what, Sunghoon? From who?"Sunghoon shook his head, his voice rising slightly.
"You don't understand. You don't know what it's like to be without you, to feel that emptiness. I can't go back to that."Heeseung stepped forward, his frustration boiling over.
"And what about me? What about my life? Do I not get a say in this? You think this is love?"Sunghoon flinched at Heeseung's words, the truth of them hitting hard.
"I do love you," he insisted, his voice breaking.
"I just... I don't know how to show it right."Heeseung softened slightly, seeing the raw vulnerability in Sunghoon's eyes.
He reached out, placing a hand on Sunghoon's arm.
"Sunghoon, you have to trust me. You have to let me go. If you really love me, you'll understand that keeping me here isn't the answer."Sunghoon's eyes filled with tears, his resolve wavering.
"I just don't know if I can," he whispered.Heeseung squeezed Sunghoon's arm gently, trying to convey his sincerity.
"You can. I believe in you.. You have to let me live my life, and we can figure things out together."Sunghoon looked down, tears spilling down his cheeks.
Heeseung's words struck a chord deep within him, challenging the fear that had driven him to this point.
He nodded slowly, the weight of the situation finally sinking in.
"Okay," he whispered. "Okay, I'll try."Heeseung breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the tension begin to ease.
"Thank you," he said softly. "That's all I ask. Just give me a chance to show you that things can be different."Sunghoon wiped his tears away.
"I'll try.." he promised, his voice steadying.Heeseung nodded, a small smile forming on his lips.
Heeseung took a deep breath and made his way past Sunghoon, his steps slow but determined.
He could feel Sunghoon's eyes on him, a mixture of longing and desperation radiating from him.
Reaching the door, Heeseung turned back, meeting Sunghoon's gaze with a firm resolve.
"I'm going now," he said, his voice steady despite the tumultuous emotions churning inside him.
