Chapter 10 : A little blossom

Neil was searching for something, darting from room to room in the college, while DD followed him without knowing the purpose. Neil's frantic pace had DD struggling to keep up, his heart pounding in his chest.

"Neil, what are you searching for?" DD shouted, trying to catch his breath as he ran. Neil heard him but didn't respond, focused on his mission. He abruptly stopped upon seeing Vidyut, who raised a hand in greeting.

"What happened? Why are you running like that? Are you searching for someone?" Vidyut asked.

"I'm looking for Mithali ma'am,sir. " Neil replied.

"Don't call me sir. You can call me by my name or bro," Vidyut corrected him with a smile. "Why are you looking for her?"

"I want to know about the CA auditions. I want to participate," Neil explained.

"She's busy with the inauguration preparations," Vidyut said.

"Inauguration?" Neil asked, puzzled.

"It's CA's 25th anniversary on Friday. A lot of alumni are coming for the event. They'll announce the audition dates then," Vidyut informed him.

"Thanks, bro," Neil said, ready to resume his search. But as he turned to go, Vidyut stopped him.

"Neil!"

"What is it, bro?" Neil asked, turning back.

"I'm sorry about the other day," Vidyut said.

"It's okay, bro," Neil replied, though he felt a bit awkward.

"And one more thing," Vidyut added. "For the audition, take that girl with you. She's very talented. CA needs that kind of talent."

"I'll inform her," Neil said and took off again, heading towards their class.

"Neil, stop! I can't run anymore. You got your answer, but you're still running," DD shouted, struggling to keep up.

Ignoring DD, Neil spotted Sunheri talking with some classmates and stopped abruptly.

"Sunheri, Av... Avni, where is she?" Neil asked, panting.

"She's in the library. What happened?" Sunheri asked.

"Nothing. I'll see you later," Neil said and started running again.

"I can't run anymore. I'll be in the canteen with Sunheri. Come find me there," DD called out, finally giving up the chase.

Neil sprinted to the library, searching frantically for Avni. When he finally spotted her sitting on a bench, he called her name loudly. The whole library turned to stare, and Avni, mortified, hid her face behind a book. Neil approached and sat beside her.

"Avni, I need to tell you something," he said, trying to catch his breath.

"What, Neil?" Avni replied, still hiding behind her book.

"There's a CA inauguration this Friday. Do you want to come with me? They'll announce the audition dates then," Neil explained.

"Okay, I'll come, but you were shouting just for this? Seriously, Neil?" Avni said, peeking over her book.

"Not just that," Neil said, pausing for a moment.

"Then what is it?" Avni asked, lowering her book slightly.

"Will you dance with me on audition day? Like a duet? Only if you're comfortable, or else we can perform separately," Neil asked, his voice earnest.

"Okay, I will," Avni agreed, finally lowering her book completely.
