Chapter 8: A Friend

Neil and Sunheri settled into their chairs, ready to share their story with Swetha and Riya. Neil leaned forward, a glint of nostalgia in his eyes, while Sunheri smiled softly, her thoughts drifting back to their college days.

"It all started when we were in college," Neil and Sunheri began, their voice steady and reflective.

The first day of college was a blend of new hopes and lingering nerves. Seniors roamed the campus, eagerly searching for their new prey, while juniors stood on the cusp of a fresh chapter in their lives. Among the seniors, a group had already assembled, their eyes scanning the newcomers with mischievous intent.

Two girls entered the campus, drawing immediate attention. One wore blue jeans and a white crop top, her confident stride betraying a hint of excitement. The other was dressed in an orange knee-length gown, paired with a sky-blue denim jacket. Her eyes darted around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.

In the senior batch, a guy clad in black jeans and an olive-green shirt noticed them. With a smirk, he called out, "Hello, denim jacket!"

The girl in the denim jacket looked around, confused about who had called her. Realizing it was directed at her, she turned to her friend. "What happened? Why are they calling me?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

"I think we've become their prey for today," replied her friend in the white crop top, a note of resignation in her tone.

Reluctantly, the girls walked towards the seniors, stopping in front of them. The denim jacket girl looked at the guy in the olive shirt and casually said, "Yes?"

"Sir," the olive shirt guy suggested with a sly grin. Misunderstanding his intention, she searched for a faculty member, causing the whole batch to erupt in laughter. The olive shirt guy's face darkened with humiliation, and he glared at her.

"Are you kidding me?" he almost shouted, his voice echoing with anger. "Call me sir. I'm your senior."

"Okay, sir," she replied, her tone indifferent.

"Tell me your names!" the olive shirt guy demanded.

"Sunheri," the white crop top girl replied promptly.

"Avni," added the denim jacket girl.

The black shirt guy and his friend walked over and stood in front of the seniors. "What's your name?" the olive shirt guy asked.

"My name is Neil," replied the black shirt guy.
