Under the midnight sky

"Goodmorning!" I did not need to open my eyes to see who it was. My grandpa barged into my room and was talking from a loud speaker.

I groaned as I used my pillow to cover my ears. "Goodmorning Arthur!" Emma greeted me using the loud speaker.

I opened my eyes and looked at the two of them standing by the door. My grandpa was holding Emma in his arms and the loud speak in his free hand.

"Emma do you want to announce what day today is?" He was talking to Emma but was still using the damn loud speaker.

"Yes!" She giggled in the loud speaker which made me smile. "Today is family game day!" She giggled again.

Oh yes family game day, the worst, best day of the year. My grandparents added this day into our calendar when I was young and every year today make us play indoor and outdoor games as a family in a form of a friendly competition.

"Get up and get ready for the day Arthur because this year, who is winning!?" He began talking to me than looked at Emma and asked her. "Us!" She laughed and I smiled.

"Be down in the sitting room ,in ten!" He said then walked out and closed the door behind him. A few seconds later opening it again, "Ten!"He closed it again.

I groaned, getting up and making my way to the bathroom to get ready. I walked out after a while and made my way to my closet to pick out the uniform my grandparents had designed for this day for each one of us and have made us wear every year.

I put on the uniform then made my way out of my room. I was met with Eleanore who was also leaving her room and she was wearing the family day uniform.

"Hey Arthur. What is family day, Sir Lancaster informed me about today's family game day and he told me that I am in the games this year and then proceeded to hand me this uniform." She said as we began walking down the hallway.

"Family game game is a day which my grandparents decided that we would spend time as a family and play games in teams and just basically spend time together." I explained as we went down the stairs.

"But I am not part of your family." She said and it sounded more like a question than a statement. "I don't know." I shrugged.

We walked into the sitting room where we were met with my parents, Emma, Aaron and my grandpa.

"Take your seats!" He still had the loud speaker which was giving me a headache. We both took our seats.

"Okay everyone. Today is family game day and it is going to be so fun!" He began and I raised my hand causing him to look at me and nod. "Can't we eat breakfast first?" I asked and everyone agreed with me.

"Wait until I am done presenting today's teams and games!" He replied. He left the room then walked back in with a big whiteboard on wheels and sat it in front of us where we could all see the board clearly.

"The teams today are George and Marie." He began announcing and began with my parents who smiled at each other. "That's not fair they are teammates every year and win every year." I said.

"It used to be your grandma and I. I say it is the power of love." Grandpa laughed. "Ai Arthur." My mom laughed.

"Okay okay. Next this year's winners Emma and Grandpa. It's Emma's first year playing and my last year, perfect paring!" Grandpa said and we all looked at each other.

"Why are you guys making those faces?" Emma questioned and my mom shook her head, "Oh no we are just agreeing with how you and grandpa you guys are going to win and if you don't win mama will buy you a pink teddy bear." She said and Emma's smile grew. "Then I don't want to win. Can I get the pink teddy?" Emma said causing all of us to laugh.

"The last team is Arthur and Eleanore!" He announced causing us to look at each other. "Aaron since you are not Arthur's teammate this year, you will be judge!" A smile came onto Aaron's face. "Fine by me." Be said.

"Now for the games of today, three will be outdoors and three indoors. We will start with the lovely race which returns every year, then we will play charades..." He announced all the games we will be playing.

"We can go have breakfast now."

"Wouldn't Emma and Sir Lancaster have a huge disadvantage?" Eleanore asked me as we were about to start the first game. Cross-country race.

"Yeah-"I was cut off by grandpa and his loud speaker." Okay the rules are you don't have to place you just have to finish the race to get your points!"He announced before handing the loud speaker to Aaron.

" Where are we?? "I asked grandpa as we were about to start." Cresent island. It's a great place for cross-country. "He replied.

" Three, two, one, go! "Aaron said then we began the run.

Eleanore and I decided to start of with jogging really slowly. Ten minutes in Emma and grandpa stopped." Grandpa, may I have a pink teddy bear? "She asked him and he nod then carried her." You know what last year was my last year and Emma you can start next year. Let's go get you a pink teddy bear. "He said causing Eleanore and I to stop and my parents who were behind us all to also stop.

" We dropout. You four can continue. "Grandpa announced and we all shrugged and continued as grandpa and Emma walked back to the start.

                     
                    ¦¦~Five games later~¦¦

" Okay we are down to the last game and both teams are tied in points. The team that wins this game wins. The last game is charades!" Aaron announced.

"Arthur look at my pink teddy." Emma said walking into the sitting room with grandpa. She walked up to me and raised her arms up so I could carry her and I did.

"It is very cute." I smiled at her and she giggled.

"How about we have King George and Queen Marie start." Aaron said and dad got up from his seat and made his way to Aaron who was holding a bowl with the themes.

He picked a paper out of the bowl then opened it before starting with his actions and mom began guessing after Aaron put a thirty seconds timer.

The timer ended before she could guess. "Up next Eleanore and Arthur." Aaron said and Eleanore got up and picked out a paper the after Aaron started the timer began doing an action.

She pointed at me then herself then drew a shape in the air with her fingers then twirled around. "Flower pot." I said and she nod.

We continued on with a few more rounds until the games were over. "I have the winners and you all already know but I will still announce. Eleanore and Arthur!"He announced.

" Today was fun."Eleanore smiled and I smiled." Yeah. "

" We have new winners. "Grandpa said..." Can we go have dinner. "Emma asked and we all laughed and left the sitting room.
