Tsukauchi POV

Flashback

I'm walking along Dagobah Beach today. Not that I love the beach, I love looking out to sea. Taking a short walk before work can't hurt. And it helps to clear my head. Sometimes it's hard to be a lie detector and a detective at the same time.

At the police station, I'm presented with every case and I can often assign who gets which case. Most people only get to see the case they get, but there are so many brutal cases you have to read through once. And so many times when I have to ask people things I don't really want to know.

Just when someone comes up to me and says it's nice to see you and they're lying about it, it can hurt. I walk along the beach. There are no people here. But of course there are no people here, it's very early in the morning. I didn't expect to hear anyone here.

I hear a laugh. At first I thought it might be villain laughing. But the laughter sounds so free and innocent that it couldn't have come from a villain. It was bright laughter, full of freedom and joy.

Slowly, as I move to the beach where? Why? For heaven's sake, should there be a child here? Finding a child in the night is a strange thing in itself, but to hear a child laughing in a place like this, the place that most people avoid very early in the morning, is strange.

I slowly approach the child. He is lying on the ground. The child also smells of something burnt, ashes and fire. Immediately I think at first, he is injured, but why does he laughs then? But if he wasn't injured, why would he lie down on a floor full of garbage and broken glass? The boy sits down. He quickly and hastily turns his head towards me. He looks a little startled. But in a way that I would recognize as threatening.

His shoulders fall back and he lies down on the sand again.

Me: Hello child. Have you lost your parents? Do you perhaps need help?

A warmth radiates from the child, and he looks exhausted.

Me: Child? Can you please answer me?

Child: I don't need any help. I can survive on my own.

Truth

Me: And where are your parents?

Child: ...

He doesn't answer me. Maybe I should try. Am again to ask if he answers me. Strange.

Me: Can you please answer me?

Child: I don't know

True

Me: you don't know if you can answer me or where your parents are?

Child:...

Me: Sigh. Can you please answer me

Child: I don't know where or who my parents are

Truth

Me: Are you lost here?

Child:...

Me: You can answer me

Child: I haven't lost my way. I have reached my goal in life.

truth

What does that mean? No seven or eight-year-old boy speaks like that

Me: Child, how old are you? You can answer me.

Child: I am 10

Ten years old. He is tiny for that age. Could he live on the street or be treated badly to eat little and look so young and fragile at this age.

Me: can you tell me your name? You may answer me.

Child: no

Truth

Can't he tell me his name, or doesn't he want to tell me his name. Because this answer was quite forward and I wasn't expecting it.

Me: Look, child, I just want to help you here. It's not normal for someone like you to lie alone on the sand on a beach like this.

Child: So I'm lying on the sand?

My quirk says it's not a lie or the truth so it must have been a question he asked. But why would he ask such a stupid question? The child's eyes get big, as if he's afraid. Has something happened? I can tell. At the beginning, he only wanted to answer me if I said he could answer. But he didn't do that this time and just spoke like that.

That's strange behavior from a child. Have people not let him talk before without telling him he can talk

Me: Look kid, I mean you no harm. It's perfectly okay that you just started talking. It's a very simple conversation, that's how a conversation works so you don't have to be afraid. We'll just finish the conversation now and see what I can help you with and you'll answer my questions without me having to let you talk the whole time. Do you agree?

I speak in a gentle voice and smile. The kid seems to take courage. However, he says nothing and just nods.
