Innocent Flower Meets Deadly Poison

Chapter 3

Angelynn POV

The next day, I woke up after having a strange dream. I don't know why, but I had a dream about Derek. I shook off the thought and got dressed for school. After brushing my hair, I grabbed my book bag and purse and went downstairs. I walked into the kitchen and seen Calee. "Hey Calee." I said, sitting down next to her. My mom walks in and starts cooking sausages and bacon. "So are you okay?" Calee asked me. "Yeah I'm fine." I told her. "I'm just wondering because after Derek bumped into you, you were acting a little strange." calee said. "Just shocked that he apologized to me that's all." I told her. After we ate, we began to walk to school when we seen a flyer on one of the telephone poles. "Wonder what its for?" Calee asked. We walked up to it and seen that the carnival was coming to town later on tonight. "Wow that's so cool." I said. "That explains all of the noise last night." Calee said. "It kept me awake most of the night." Someone behind us said. We turned around and seen Derek behind us. I went quiet while Calee rudely asked, "What do you want?" "I just wanted to apologize again for bumping into Angelynn yesterday and I wanted to ask her something." Derek said. Derek looks at me and asks, "I was wondering if you wanted to come with me to the carnival tonight?" Me and Calee were shocked. As was Tom, who just showed up. "What?" We all said. "If you say no, I understand." Derek said. "Well, I'll have to talk to my parents about it." I told him. "Ok, here's my number and I can come pick you up." Derek said, handing me his number. We all walk to school and head off to our classes. As soon as Lunch hit, Calee and I grab our lunch and sat down. "Are you seriously gonna go with him if your parents do say yes?" Calee asked, taking a bite of her salad. "Why not?" I asked. "Are you kidding me right now? That guy is a bad boy asshole. He'll just try to get into your pants or maybe he and Tom will try to rape you." Calee said. "Maybe your judging him too quickly Cal. He might not be much of an asshole as everyone assumes he is." I said. To be honest, I was worries about asking my parents cause if they do say yes, then I'll end up going with Derek to the carnival. I'm nervous about what might happen tonight. "Just try to be careful Ok Angel?" Calee said. "I will." I told her. After school that day, I was walking home when I seen a car pull up to me. My first thought was that I should run but then, the window rolled down and I seen Derek. "Hey I just got my car fixed. Do you need a ride?" He asked me. Calee had a doctors appointment after school today so I was on my own walking home. I nodded and climbed into the passenger side. "Just let me know when we get to your house." Derek said. I nod as he started driving again. We sat in compplete silence the whole way home. As soon as we were close to my house, I told him to stop. "Thanks for the ride home." I said, getting out of his car. "No problem. Hopefully, I'll see you later tonight." Derek said. He drove away as I walked inside. "Mom dad I'm home." I said, setting my bags down in a chair. "How was school?" Dad asked. "Pretty good. There's a carnival happening tonight and..." I was hesitant in asking the question. "And what Angelynn?" Mom asked. I took a deep breath and said, "And Derek asked me if I wanted to go with him. Can I?" Mom and Dad looked at each other, but didn't say anything. Finally, dad said that I can go with him. "But only if Calee goes with you." Mom added. "Thanks mom. Thanks dad." I went up to my room and called Derek. "My parents said that I can go, but as long as Calee goes with us." I told him. "That's fine. I'll pick you up around 7" Derek said. We hung up and then I call Calee. "They said I can go with him as long as you go with us." I told her. "Do I have to come?" Calee whined. "Please Cal. If Derek tries anything, you can kick his ass." I told her. "Works with me." She said. We hang up as I looked in my closet for an outfit to wear. I then decides to wear a white with black stripes shirt, a blue skirt that ended above the knees, a watermelon slice necklace, and white converse. After I changed, I curled my hair and tied it back with a blue bandana. I then waited till I heard someone walking towards my room. The door opens and Calee stands in front of me, wearing a white tank with the american flag on it, denim shorts, a batman bracelet, and black converse. Her hair was pulled up into a high ponytail. "You ready? I thought I seen Derek driving up here." Calee said. I nod as I heard Derek's voice. "Let's go." I said. We walked downstairs and seen Derek. "You two ready to go? Tom said he'll meet us there." Derek said. I nod and kissed my parents goodbye. "Have fun but be back by 10:00 Ok." Dad said. I nod as we all got into Derek's car and drove to the carnival. When we arrived, Derek paid for our tickets and we seen Tom walking toward us. Seeing Calee, Tom decided to pick a fight with her. "So the bitch returns. You couldn't get enough of me could you?" He said. "I would rather have sex with a dog then get any of you." Calee said. While the two of them fought, Derek takes my hand and we slip away from them. "Sorry about Tom. He's only acting like an ass because his girlfriend broke up with him." Derek said. I didn't say anything. I didn't know what to say honestly. I was nervous around him. He was still holding my hand when we went up to one of the game booths. Derek wins the game and hands me a stuffed blue cat. "Thank you." I said. He smiles as we walked around. Suddenly, the wind blew near us, sending chills all over my body. I was starting to feel cold so I hugged myself to keep warm. "Are you cold?" Derek asked me. I nod as he takes off his jacket and puts it on me. "Better?" Derek asked me. I nod as he takes my hand and leads me to a lake. "This was where my dad use to take me so we can go fishing." Derek said. "Its so pretty at night, especially with the stars." I said. We looked up at the stars as I thought, this night turned out better than I thought. Suddenly, Derek looks down at me and leans in. I lean in and our lips touch. We just kissed. That was my first kiss. We both stop and look at each other. He smiles and I smile. "I think we should find Calee and Tom." Derek said. "Unless Calee already killed him let's go." I said. We walked back to where we seen them and they were gone. "Where did they go?" Derek asked. "Probably went looking for us." I said. We walked around and seen them playing games. Calee turns around and seeing us says, "Hey guys. What happened to you two?" "Just wanted to get away from you twos fight." Derek said. After playing some more games and riding rides, we all piled into Derek's car and headed home. After dropping off Calee and Tom, we began to drive back to my house when I looked down at my watch and gasped. It was 11, an hour past the time I was suppose to come home. "Oh no. My parents are gonna kill me for being late." I said. "Don't worry, just tell them that we lost track of time." Derek said. We pulled up to my house as Derek kisses me goodnight. As soon as I got out of his car, I realized that I still had his jacket. "Derek wait. Your jacket." I said, trying to give it to him. "Keep it till school tomorrow." Derek said. He drove away as I walked inside, only to be face to face with my parents. "Angelynn thank god your okay." Mom said. "You were suppose to come home an hour ago. What did that Poison boy do to you?" Dad ask, checking to see if I was hurt. "Derek didn't do anything to me. We all lost track of time." I told them. "Why do you have his jacket?" Mom asked. "I was getting cold so he let me borrow it. Its not a big deal." I told them. "Angelynn, I don't want you getting close to that Poison boy you hear me?" Dad said. "Why? He's not like the other Poison people." I said, getting annoyed. "Don't you remember what happened to your Aunt Rachel?" Mom asked. I nod. "She dated a Poison and was killed." I said. "Exactly, we can't let another Flower fall down due to a Poison. All Poisons are the same. They'll take advantage of a Flower and then kill them without hesitation." Dad said. "Stop judging Derek just because he's a Poison!" I yelled, getting sick of everyone who judges Derek. "Do not raise your voice young lady." Dad said. "I love him! And there nothing you can do about it." I yelled. Silence. Then my parents tell me to go to my room. I run upstairs and slammed my door shut. I then threw myself on my bed and cried. I put on Derek's jacket and realized what I said to mom and dad. I guess I was right all along I thought. I am in love with a Poison.
