Today was just another day for Seokjin. He was grading papers in his homeroom early in the morning, with his first class yet to start.

His thoughts wandered back to the CEO, who was also his mate, and he found himself thinking about him again. It was strange, wasn't it? The CEO seemed so unbothered, while Seokjin was nearly intoxicated by his scent.

Did he not know they were mates? Or did he simply not want Seokjin as his mate? Would he reject him? The thought made Seokjin's hand tremble, causing red ink to splatter on the paper he was checking.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he grabbed a tissue from the drawer and began wiping his hands, trying hard not to think of the alpha.

“Hello, Mr. Kim.” The voice made him look towards the door, where he found Mr. Changmin standing. He smiled at his fellow teacher, who was also an alpha.

“Hi, Mr. Chang,” Seokjin replied, tossing the soiled tissue into the trash.

“How's your mother?” the alpha asked, coming closer.

“She’s fine,” Seokjin replied, his voice faltering. She was stable, but there wasn’t any improvement. The tumor wasn’t spreading, but things weren’t getting better either.

“She’ll be better soon,” Changmin said with a reassuring smile. Seokjin smiled back. The alpha was charming and trying hard to court him, but Seokjin didn’t like him in that way.

He hadn’t liked anyone in ages. The last time he dated someone was in college, back when he was happy and his dad was alive.

Since his dad's death and the news of his mother's brain tumor diagnosis, he hadn’t found the time or desire to date anyone.

“I hope so too,” Seokjin said, glancing at his wristwatch. Class was about to start. Changmin noticed as well and cleared his throat.

“I was wondering if you would like to go to lunch with me. I promise it won't take long, and I'll drop you off at your house before 4 pm,” the alpha said. Seokjin sighed. He really wanted to decline, but he had done so many times before. The alpha was genuinely a nice person, and Seokjin found it difficult to always reject him.

“Okay,” he said slowly. Changmin's face lit up, and his smile widened. Seokjin tried to smile back. As students started arriving, Changmin took his leave. Seokjin let out a resigned sigh. He really wasn’t looking forward to the lunch. He hated giving fake smiles.

The day ended, and as soon as Seokjin stepped out of his classroom, Changmin was there waiting. Seokjin remembered he had accepted the lunch invitation after turning it down so many times. Honestly, he was running out of excuses.

“Shall we go?” Changmin asked with a smile so wide it almost hurt Seokjin's eyes.

“Would you mind if I wait for Yoongi to pick up Tae and Jimin? I can't leave them by themselves,” Seokjin said. He always made sure that Tae and Jimin got home safely, and sometimes, when Hobi and Yoongi were too busy, he dropped them off himself.

“Of course not,” Changmin smiled as they started walking towards the kindergarten.

“Jinnie!” Tae ran towards him as soon as he arrived.

“Hello, my love,” Jin smiled genuinely this time as he picked Tae up and kissed his cheek.

“Me too,” Jimin huffed, standing in front of him with puffed-out cheeks.

Jin cooed as he picked him up as well.

“Who is he, Jinnie?” Jimin asked, pointing towards the alpha with narrowed eyes.
