He entered his apartment and turned on the living room lights, the door shutting behind him. He walked to the kitchen, grabbed a bottle of ice-cold water, and drank it down sip by sip.“I don't know what you want from me,” he whispered, looking at the moon outside his large glass window. One of the apartment's walls was made entirely of glass.
He was genuinely furious at the moon goddess. Why did she have to meddle with his life like that? Why did she make him the savior of the very person who had destroyed him?
He hated Seokjin to the core of his heart, so why was his alpha angered at the thought of Seokjin being alone? Why did he promise his mother that he would take care of him? He hated Seokjin more than anything else, but he hated himself even more because he was attracted to Seokjin's sweet, sweet scent.
He had been with many omegas before, but Seokjin was the sweetest of them all, which was surprising because Seokjin had always been so bitter at heart. How had he become so sweet all of a sudden?
In the recesses of his mind, his alpha reminded him that it had been a long time since Seokjin was bitter and hard-hearted, devoid of remorse or kindness. Perhaps he had changed, but Namjoon didn't want to believe it. Even if it were true, Namjoon didn't want it to be.
How could Seokjin forget him after ruining his life? He had no right to forget him when Namjoon remembered him so vividly, his face clear in his mind as if it were yesterday, even though it had been more than 15 years.
But Namjoon couldn't let him go. He had to take him. He had to protect him, not just because Seokjin was his mate, but because he had to make him pay for what he had done to Namjoon.
He unlocked his phone and opened the secure folder named "Jin." Inside were many pictures of Jin from when he was no more than 14 years old. He stared at the pictures while taking small sips of cold water.
Jin had been so beautiful at 14 that 16-year-old Namjoon had fallen deeply in love with him. Now, at 29, Jin was even more handsome. Namjoon had never seen anyone more beautiful than him, but now, at 31, Namjoon hated him.

Seokjin tried hard to ignore Changmin, but it was impossible. The alpha always found him wherever he was.
"Hey, Jin." Seokjin let out a surprised yelp when he heard Changmin's voice nearby. He turned around and saw him smiling, as always. Seokjin gave a small smile, too. He was so happy to have finally ditched the man, but here he was again with his charming smile that didn't make Seokjin's heart flutter.
"Hello, Mr. Chang," Seokjin said, placing things back on his desk.
"So, will you join me for lunch today?" Changmin asked, leaning leisurely against the desk. Seokjin chewed his bottom lip. If the alpha were truly intelligent, he should have known by now that Seokjin didn't want to go with him. But either the alpha wasn't intelligent, or he simply chose not to be in this case.
"Yeah, sorry about last week," Seokjin said with a small smile. The words, in a voice of wine and silk, were still fresh in his mind: he shouldn't be going out with other alphas. But Seokjin was an emotional person who couldn't say no to people, even if he wanted to, and he felt terrible after breaking their hearts. And one lunch wouldn't hurt anyone, right? He would tell Changmin that he didn't like him that way.
"Awesome, shall we go?" Changmin asked, suddenly very enthusiastic and happy. Seokjin nodded, gathered his belongings, and followed him to his car.
After a while of driving, during which Changmin talked and Seokjin listened, they finally arrived at the restaurant. Now, Seokjin really regretted agreeing to lunch.
