Three words came to mind as I followed behind him into the very uppity restaurant.
Awkward. As Hell. The ride here was so painfully awkward that I wanted to crawl out of my own skin and crumble into a fetus position. We managed to pick up the flowers and the suit which took a whopping three hours with the infamous LA traffic and now we're checking off the last errand on the to do list: tasting the dessert for the reception.
I thought it was awfully weird that we had to do this being that the loving couple already chose the menu and approved of everything. Jade stated that we needed to taste some of the dessert options to make sure it really is perfect just to put her mind at ease
It took so much for her to persuade me to do this but she managed to by guilt tripping me for leaving Vegas early. But she did sincerely apologize for how she'd been acting towards me and I felt so relieved to hear it. She admitted to losing herself a little as the wedding got closer and closer but I reassured her that everything was alright between us. I'm just so happy that she acknowledged her behavior and talked about it with me. I made sure to apologize as well for leaving so abruptly and being a Debby downer and she didn't press me about it all.
Ahh life is so much more worth living when you reconcile things with your bestie.
"Ah it is such a pleasure to have you guys join us this evening. My name is Ronnie and I will be serving you guys' samples of the top notch desserts that the bride and groom have chosen. Please have a seat and I'll bring three choices out" I nodded thanking the kind (ridiculously attractive) man before taking a seat at the large round table. I refrained from sighing extra loudly as Justin pulled the seat next to me and sat down
"This is a nice place.."
"Yeah..." besides the obvious reason as to why I've dreaded this time being spent with him all day, he also keeps trying to have small talk which is something I HATE. No I don't care about the weather, yes the restaurant is cute and no I haven't seen the news lately!
Ugh who on earth did I piss off in another life? What did I do to deserve this? I already have to basically lie to the world as if I'm in a happy relationship with him all cause of a stupid contract with Tiffany and Co. I mean what is to be expected of us two is actually insane. The meeting we had went by smoothly but I get the feeling this isn't something we can just do and come out to the work with a "breakup" after receiving our checks. Once the world falls in love with the next power couple, you now become the nations couple. Everyone is envious of you. They want your love.
Literally, what have I done?
"So.....excited for the wedding?"
I inhaled deeply before exhaling and slowly shifting my eyes over to him. I rolled them as he sat with the classic "white man smile" (if you know, you know), with his hands interlocked as they rested on the table.
"Small talk isn't necessary."
"Oh...right...sorry I just figured.....since it's kind of quiet.."
I sighed rolling my eyes once again as I retrieved my phone from my purse. Thank God this was our last stop because I can't take this anymore!
