Chapter 2

Ivy

I had come home from London. I moved right as I got out of school. I went to Uni and got an engineering degree and I specialize in sound. I haven't seen Niall since he left back in 2010. He went on to be in the biggest boyband probably ever. It's called One Direction. They broke up in 2016 and now they are all making solo music. I've actually recorded with 2 of them, I won't say who. We haven't really spoken either. Other than the occasional happy birthday or congrats text. It doesn't help that I haven come home since I left all those years ago. I was working with a recording studio in downtown London. 

Before I knew it I was back in Mullingar. I sat outside preparing for my homecoming. I knocked and waited. My mom opened the door and instantly started crying. I didn't mention that I was coming home. 

"Ivy what are you doing here?" Mum asked me.

"I'm home for Christmas. I've missed you all." I replied hugging her.

"Where's Drew at?"

Drew was my ex fiancé. We meant back in 2014 when I was in Uni. He was in a few of my classes and he asked me out. A few weeks ago, I found him in our bed with his girl best friend he had told me not to worry about. It's part of the reason why I'm home actually. I needed to get away. 

"He cheated on me mum" I instantly broke out in tears. These have been the hardest weeks of my life.

"Oh honey" She instantly brought me inside. 

After I finished crying and settling in. I went down to the kitchen. My two brothers were also home. The oldest is Gilbert. Everyone called him Gibsie. He has a wife and two kids. He still lives in Mullingar. Next is James. He has a wife but no kids. He moved to Dublin for work but still comes home often. I moved to London and this is the first time I've been available to come home.

"Ivy!" I tuned to see James running at me.

"James!" I ran to him.

"Where have you been, huh? Too cool to come home to us now aren't we."

"You know I've been busy with work."

"Speaking of, how is it? I haven't heard from you so long."

"Well, I quit because of the hours are way too long."

"I'm glad you're home." He smiled at me before he whispered, "If I ever see that Drew kid again I'll kill him."

I smiled sadly, "Thank you."

"Ivy there's someone here for you!" I heard Gibsie call to me. 

I had already seen everyone that I needed to see. I saw James, Dad (unfortunately), Mum, Gibsie, and his kids. Who else would it be? I turned the corner and froze when I saw him. For the first time in 12 years he was in the same place as me.

"Hey Ivy Bug." I heard his familiar voice.

"Niall!" I ran and about knocked us both over as I crashed into him.

I was crying again. 

"Hey, don't cry." He laughed at me

"Niall it's been 12 years and we haven't really talked. I missed you so much."

"I've missed you too." 

Later we were all sitting watching movies. We all talked and caught each other up on our lives. I found out that Niall was releasing another album this coming summer. He's calling it The Show.

"So you work for a studio in London?" Niall asked.

"I did. It's called The Studio." I wiggled my eyebrows

"Ahh the one I've never been to in all 12 years of music." Niall laughed

"I quit because of the hours." I looked down at my hands, "Sound engineering wasn't really working for me there. I'm hoping someone else will need a sound engineer."

"Wait, you're a sound engineer?"

"Yeah, that's why I left for Uni."

"You should come on tour with me." He got excited. 

"Niall I can't." I replied

"Yes you can! I need a sound engineer." He got excited before he added, "You have to because I told you I'd take you on tour with me."

Smiling, I said, "You're right. Then I'm in."

"Great! I'll try to fit you in on my team!"

"Niall I thought you didn't have one." I asked confused.

"Ehh kinda. I'll get the details and let you know. I'm still trying to find an opener but maybe you can work for them."

"Ni-"

"Great! I'll send you the details as soon as we have them."

Giving up all I said was, "Okay." 

As we sat and watched the movie all I could think about was how he remembered his promise to me. I was really going to tour the world with him. I really needed to work on myself and stay stress free for while. Who knows what could happen on this tour? Maybe it could be good.
