HoldenJake opened the door and I stepped in first. I missed this place. Ivy doesn't know this yet, but I have my own place down the road. I wanted to see if she'd be okay staying with my family. Later tonight when we leave to go to my apartment, there is going to be a little home date set up. I asked my Mom if she could do it for me.
"Sammy has arrived!" I heard Jake yell from behind us. I was walking to the living room with Ivy.
"Oh Sam!" My mom came around the corner and wrapped me in a hug. "I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too mom." I let go of the hug and turned to Ivy. "Mom this is Ivy."
"Hi honey. It's nice to meat you. You can call me Mama Jaffe." She also walked to Ivy and gave her a hug.
"Hi. It's nice to meet you too." Ivy hugged her back. I smiled watching them. Jake walked up from behind us.
"She's from Ireland. Isn't that cool?" He patted my shoulder.
"Jake stop. It's not that big of a deal." I told him. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable.
My mom looked at me and said, "Sam. You didn't tell us she was from Ireland! That is really cool." She looked at Ivy and said, "I'm glad you're here. Sam, here, has told me so much about you! Come eat. I bet you're hungry."
"Mom where's grandma at? I want her to meet Ivy." I asked mom.
"She's asleep right now. The old bat needs her nap." She grabbed Ivy's hand and started dragging her away. Ivy laughed and followed.
"Sammy boy come here. Come help with the bags." I turned to where Jake was standing.
"We're going back to my apartment later. Just give me a minute. Ivy doesn't know that we're not staying here." I told him quietly.
"Oh I get it." He winked at me. I just shook my head. I turned and grabbed our bags to put them in the car. I'll ask Ivy if she wants a nap and I'll sneak away to make sure everything is set up.
Once I got back in the house, Mom was talking to Ivy about all the pictures of me when I was little.
"And this one is when he was at camp. He loved it there. He wasn't a very social kid."
"Alright alright. I know I'm exhausted and I'm sure Ivy is as well. Ivy do you want to go take a quick power nap?" I asked walking up to where they were.
"Yeah I would. I'll see you in a little bit Mama Jaffe." She smiled before walking up the stairs with me.
"How are you liking everything?" I asked her.
"I love it. Everyone is so nice and so fascinated with my accent." She laughed.
"I don't know why. There are plenty of accents here." I shook my head. I walked to my childhood bedroom and opened the door. It had a twin bed in the corner and posters of so many 90s musicians. She walked in looking around.
"Holden this is so cool. I love it." She looked at me and smiled. I walked in the room and shut the door. I turned and walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her lower back. She wrapped hers around my neck.
"It's kind of embarrassing." I whispered.
"I don't think so." She smiled. I lowered my head and kissed her. She pulled away first. "Nap time." She let go of me and walked to my bed.
